Kaiyo's Pov
I sat with Yaomomo while we were prepping for the sports festival in our own room inside the arena. There's no denying that some kind of tension was building up between each other as we were preparing, and I could tell that no one was about to back down.
They all prepared for the past two weeks before the first day of the festival, and they were not about to waste all the time they spent training just to go down the bottom of the chain. While Yaomomo and Jirou were talking to each other, I sat beside the rich girl with a seemingly bored look on my face.
One thing I can never deny is that I have no control over my face. It just shows what I truly feel at a situation, and I never really bothered to take care of that. People see what they deserve to see, that's what I believe on.
"How did you prepare for the past two weeks, Kaiyo-chan?" Jirou asks me. She sits across me and Yaomomo behind the plastic table between us.
My mind flashed back to when I told Todoroki that I will train. At the thought, my face falls gloomy. "I didn't do anything." I admit.
As much as Todoroki fired me up with his taunt that I won't be training, I prioritized sleep and eating more than training at the time. Besides, I had to help my aunt with some things back in the hospital. Taking care of his mother is another of those, but I was happy to do so.
"Are you sure you can compete in your condition?" Yaomomo asks worriedly. She glances down to my left ankle, which was actually injured because of my stupidity just yesterday.
I fell down the stairs on my way to the kitchen yesterday morning and ended up limping. "Of course, I can." I grinned back. "I'll still beat you with a sprained ankle."
"I still think you're gonna kick ass." Jirou laughed. "If you were to ask me who the top five in this class is, I'd say it's you, Bakugo, Todoroki, Iida, and Yaomomo. There is no doubt about it."
My eyes unconsciously drifted to a certain green-haired male with a normal face. Him possibly inheriting All Might's quirk never really left my mind, and I knew that I'll figure it out sooner or later.
"I don't know. I think we have an underdog." I looked back at the two girls as I said that. They were confused by what I said, but they let it be and changed the topic once again.
Suddenly, Todoroki rises from his own seat and called Midoriya out. I flinched. If he's going to do what I think he's about to do, then—
"Midoriya," he said. "Looking at things objectively, I think I'm stronger than you."
Well, he is going to do it.
As I was about to rise from my own seat, Yaomomo grabe hold of my forearm and told me to sit back down. She didn't want me to get into a challenge between boys, probably knowing that it will end in a mess.
I bit my lip before obediently sitting back down to let them be. Todoroki was holding an intense gaze at Midoriya's eyes, and he seemed confused by his sudden taunt.
"But All Might has his eye on you, doesn't he?"
Well, crap.
I really thought that we're going to keep that discussion between the two of us and not to openly say it to the one we're trying to figure out, but he's already there saying it to his face that he knows something is up.
When I looked at him closer this time, Todoroki seems to be on edge for some reason. His eyes weren't like how they were just yesterday, and his whole body itself was showing that something is bothering him.
