Shoto's Pov
It took us two hours finally finish studying for our final exams, and Kaiyo looks like she was beat from all the numbers and methods she had to memorize for calculus.
She was laying her head on the table, still pouting at her math notebook like it was her sworn enemy on Earth. By the looks of it, the girl who was considered the smartest in class was struggling all this time when it came to mathematics.
"I never expected you to be so hung up on math. You're always competing against Yaoyorozu." I say.
"That's because I studied." She huffed. "I tend to forget all the things I study in math the day after. It sucks."
She struggles in memorization, so that's why.
I stood from my spot across her and went to sit on the cushion beside her this time. She was still laying on the table, but facing me. I carefully placed a hand on her head and massaged her head in the most gentle way possible.
"For a guy who never dated, you seem to like being touchy." She grins.
"I don't. I can stop if it makes you uncomfortable." I mumble.
All this dating thing was new to me, and I just act on instinct around her. I didn't even know that I was capable of doing these things until I was doing it on her.
"Nah, your hand's warm. I could fall asleep." She yawns. "I like this side of you, not holding back and all."
"What do you mean?"
"It wasn't that obvious, but you hesitate when it comes to interacting with people, don't you?"
Her senses are really scary.
Kaiyo was the first to actually read through me and my actions. Maybe it was why I was so drawn to her. She seems to always know what to do and how to respond to the way I act.
"You probably know already since you know my mother." I sighed. "But I never had the best childhood. Being touched still makes me flinch at times, so I apologize in advance if I ever act up."
"It's nothing to apologize for." She was still grinning lazily. My hand was now buried in her locks as she used her folded arms to pillow her head. "And I understand if you can't talk about your past for now. It must be hard."
Another thing I liked about her. Kaiyo was never one to force things out of people. She knows her own limits to each person, and as straightforward as she may be, she still aligns the things she say on those boundaries she had set.
There were so many things to know about her, and it only intrigues me every time I find something new. "Do you want to come to the dining room now? I think my sister's done cooking."
"Sure," she hummed. "Let's not make you wait for soba a second more."
She got me there.
I let her come out of my room first, holding the door open as she passed through. The lights on the hallway were opened now, and it was dark out when I looked past the windows.
Even without her staying for dinner, we would still end late. It was a good decision for her to eat her instead of making her prepare her own food when she gets home.
Knowing her, she'd probably sleep through it instead since she's too exhausted to cook.
"Natsuo, come on. This is the only time we're eating with father. Let's support Shoto, okay?"
When we turned to the dining room, my elder siblings were already inside. Fuyumi was holding on to Natsuo's arm as he tried to pry away from her grasp, and it looked like he didn't want to be inside.
