He noticed my presence, eventually. He flicked to the very first page of the book. I could feel my anger levels rising. He was touching my book. The one my Grandmother gave to me a week before she died. The book that held a very dear place in my heart.
"Ah, Jamie. Is it?" He asked, looking down at the first page again. I already knew what it said. 'To my darling Jamie. Treasure this forever. Love, Nana Grace.'
I nodded, confirming that was infact my name.
"Jamie is usually a male's name." He stated cockily, smirking.
"Well then I guess I'm a male." I snapped, snatching the book from his grasp.
He remained silent for a moment, staring at me.
"I'm sorry. I seem to have struck a nerve." He said, standing up and tugging at the collar of his coat.
I didn't reply. Instead I looked down at the book in my hands and silently hoped he'd just leave. He was pretty intimidating. And knowing the little I do about him, is a little nerve wrecking.
"You're very careless Jamie. You should be more organized." He told me. Speaking to me like an adult would speak to a child.
"Careless?" I questioned quietly.
"Yes. Careless. If the book means so much to you, don't leave it lying around." He stated, putting his hands into his coat pockets.
"Thanks for the tip." I said sarcastically, narrowing my eyes at him.
"No problem." He said, standing at the door.
I put my book in my bag and swung it over my shoulder, then I wrapped my scarf around my neck. I purposely took my time, hoping he'd get fed up and leave. But he didn't, he waited.
I walked over to the door which he opened for me. I gave him a small nod as thanks and stepped outside into the freezing wheather.
Please don't walk with me. Please don't walk with me. Please don't walk with me. I mentally prayed.
"Jamie?" He called.
I turned around to see him standing at the door holding my coat. I mentally screamed at myself for being so stupid. Well Jamie you've found your true talent; embarrassing yourself.
"Forgetting something?" He smirked. "Like I said. Careless." He boasted as I walked towards him to retrieve my coat.
"Here, let me." He said, unhooking my bag from my shoulder.
"Thank you." I said quietly, shrugging on my coat.
He leaned closer to me while he placed my bag strap on my shoulder and softly whispered "You're welcome." right beside my ear. Shivers immediately ran down my spine and spread across my body, and for some reason I was slightly aroused. He then took a step back and stared at my face.
"Can I walk you home?" He asked, switching on his charm. I slowly shook my head from side to side.
"Would you like to come back to mine then?" He smirked, raising an eyebrow. I shook my head again.
"Why not? Don't trust me?" He asked, tilting his head to the side. Once more, I slowly shook my head.
"Good." He lightly chuckled. He leaned right into my face, I could feel his hot breathe on my skin, contrasting with the cold, bitter wind.
"You shouldn't." He smiled. Several shivers were sent running down my spine causing my back to slightly arch and my heart pace to quicken. I stared at him, directly into his eyes. They looked so...dark. Almost, menacing. I knew this guy was nothing but trouble."You don't talk much." He sighed, stepping back. I immitated his actions, except, I took three steps back.
This caused him to smile. I could tell my face was showing exactly how I felt. My eyes wide, mouth slightly open, breathing harshly.
"I'll see you around Jamie." He called. He took a left and started walking. His boots clicking, making a soft sound against the cold ground. "I look forward to it." He called louder, still walking, his back facing me.
I took the right and started walking towards home.
"Bye Harry." I called back. But I continued walking when I heard the noise of his boots suddenly come to a stop.
