AT SCHOOL
I finally had arrived to school by bus. When I was walking cross the parking lot when I noticed Jessica talking to some boy. I grinned at the sight but made a neutral face when I made it next to Jessica.
Me: good morning!
Jessica's eyes widened for a second but then she hugged me.
Jessica: hey!
She broke the hug but kept on arm on my shoulder while looking at the guy.
Jessica: This is Josephine, my best friend.
I looked at the guy and smiled. He was clearly checking me out, like he probably had done with Jessica already. Jessica turned to me
Jessica: oh my god, I have to introduce you to each other. Eric, This is Josephine. Josephine, This is Eric. We have math together.
Eric: hey, Josephine! Nice to meet you.
Me: Nice to meet to you too. I think I have seen you around school couple of times.
Eric: really?
Me: yeah, but I believe that we're majoring in different fields.
He chuckled
Eric: it's okay.
And turned his attention back to Jessica, smiling.
Eric: Jessica didn't know that we had math together until now.
I chuckled.
Jessica: In my defence, I'm not desperate to find a lot of friends. Especially for a boyfriend.
Eric: hmm, I think it could be nice to know your classmates.
He turned to me and then looked back at her.
Eric: you never know where or when you could find someone.
I looked down, trying to hide my blushing. I must have been only one getting what he said, since I didn't feel any reaction from Jessica. But then again, how he said it felt like he was making a move towards Jessica.
Jessica: That's true.
Eric: Anyways, I got to go. I'll see you two later.
When I looked up, he had already turned around and was walking away from us.
Jessica put her hands on my shoulders, pushed me to face her and started shake me.
Jessica: what have you done, Jose?
She shook my body few seconds and then let go. I shook my head to shake off the dizziness.
Me: what are you talking about?
Jessica: uhm, hello? Weren't you just here a few seconds ago?
Me: I.. was?
Jessica: I had no idea who he was but this was the first time here, when I was approached by a stranger.
Me: But he wasn't a stranger. He just told you that you both have math together. You just didn't notice. Well, at least hadn't noticed it before.
Jessica: But it isn't just that. There there must be more, I can feel it, Jose.
There actually was. When I remembered what he said exactly, I wasn't avoiding the idea that he might like her.
Jessica: it must have been the clothes then.
I closed my eyes and shook my head.
Me: what?
Was she alright? I mean her assumption wasn't that wrong but if that was the answer, I would be sad for both of them because of all that shallowness.
