AT THE SAME TIMEPeyton's POV
I had just left Josephine alone and walked the other direction. I was searching for the lab section in the hospital and I knew I hadn't been one in this hospital. It took me a few minutes but finally made it to the lab. When I opened it, I saw a few large tables with all those objects you would use in Chemistry class.
At my right, I saw some people behind those desks, all examining something. Behind the first person at my right, was another man in a white coat who had oddly familiar back. I awkwardly made my way to him, trying not ta draw attention to myself. When I reached behind him.
Me: Hey! My name is Peyton.
Man: Like I wouldn't know my own relatives.
He took his glasses off and spun around with his chair.
Me: Jace!
Jace was a relative. He was my aunt's older son to be exact. We had seen each other before but not lately. He stood up and we hugged.
Me: It's good to see you man!
Jace: You too!
We broke up the hug and looked at each other.
Jace: Peyton, what are you doing here?
Me: I was given a task in the station. A case, that apparently is still going on.
Jace: Aren't you an intern?
Me: Yes and I'm already getting my first experience.
Jace: Doesn't seem like a promising situation but alright.
Jace seemed concerned about all of this. If I was a bystander i would probably act the same way but this was still Mr. Harrington's idea.
Me: What about you? I heard you got into medicine but weren't you into like going somewhere outside of the country?
Jace: I settled in. Marriage or not, Me and Sophie are very happy and soon to be parents.
Me: You serious?
I started smiling.
Jace: Yes! and it's a girl if you're wondering.
We both smiled and I hugged him again. I was just so happy for him.
Me: Remind me to always attend to family get togethers.
We broke the hug.
Me: It seems like I don't know much.
Jace: Hey, it's okay. I'm happy to see you.
Then doors opened again and few men entered. I was facing towards Jace, so I didn't see who came in but it didn't took much time to figure out who they or who he was.
Mr. Blacksmith: Well, hello Mr. Scott! What a nice surprise to see you here.
I turned around and my mood just got brought down.
Me: Is it? What are you doing here?
Jace: This seems personal. I'm gonna leave you alone. It was nice to see you!
I watched how Jace greeted him and disappeared out of sight.
Me: Why are you here?
Mr. Blacksmith: Well, I came to see how Mr. Harrington was doing.
Me: Well, usually you don't show up if there wasn't something wrong, so talk.
This was irritating. Blacksmith and Harrington go way back. They trained together and became best friends. Harrington stayed here after the training and Blacksmith went to New York. When Harrington seems like a father figure in our station, Blacksmith is more like an stepdad that nobody asked for but who shows up. He was serious and strict all the time without any sense of humor in hin.
