Josephine's POV
Me and the Pastor were talking about faith when Peyton entered the room and we both looked at his direction.
Me: Peyton!
He walked next to the Pastor's bed and smiled to both of us. I smiled.
Peyton: seems like everything is okay here
Pastor: Even though it was an accident, Josephine is a good girl at heart.
Pastor turned to him.
Pastor: I heard a young man had saved me from drowning? Thank you.
I think I saw Peyton smile a bit.
Peyton: anytime. And it was nothing. Doing my job.
Pastor: Still, a young boy with such skills deserves a thank you. You did saved my life.
Peyton chuckled and smiled. A thought occurred to me.
Me: How did it went in the lab? Did you find anything?
Peyton: yeah...
He seemed to hesitate to answer.
Peyton: things turned out a bit differently than I expected. I'll trust the results.
Me: really? What happened?
Peyton moves closer to me, I started to think he might whisper into my ear but he just moved closer . Even pastor could hear him.
Peyton: we'll talk about it in private.. later.
Me: okay?
My attention went to the Pastor who seemed to analyse Peyton.
Pastor: you're scared.
Me: what?
Pastor looked at me and then back to Peyton.
Pastor: you're friend is scared of something he was offered. He fears of making a wrong choice.
Peyton looked at me.
Peyton: should...this.. be accurate?
Pastor chuckled at that.
Pastor: you know.. things like that are only known by divine. Things we feel but won't let anyone know.
Peyton: right. And how do you know about it then?
Pastor: angels are everywhere.
Peyton stood there without replying. He sighed and looked at me.
Peyton: we should go. I have to get you home. You have school tomorrow and I have to start working.
Me: sure!
I turned my attention to Pastor. Peyton was walking towards the door.
Me: thank you for everything. I hope you'll get out of here soon.
Pastor reached for my hand and stopped me from moving.
Pastor: Angels are everywhere Josephine, you aren't alone. Don't be fooled, cause everything is not what it seems.
The last part of that sentence seemed very odd.
Me: what?
Pastor let go and I walked next to Peyton. Before saying anything, i looked back at the pastor who kept his expression neutral. I turned to Peyton.
Me: you wanted to talk?
We left the room and went back to the parking lot. When we had made it halfway to the car, I stopped.
