When classes and few lectures were over, I was standing in front of the school with Jessica. I just had shown her the text.
Jessica: hospital? Why?
Me: I don't know..
We saw Peyton's car stopping in front of us. He opened the passenger window.
Peyton: get in. We have to hurry.
Me: I'm coming.
As I was getting into the car, Peyton turned his attention to Jessica.
Peyton: hello Jessica! Long time no see!
Jessica: stop harassing Jose and we can fix it.
Peyton: can't, sorry.
Jessica: sorry not sorry..
I put on my seatbelt and watched how Jessica turned around and walked away.
Me: what did you say to her?
Peyton looked at me as if I was mad
Peyton: nothing.
Me: well, you seemed pretty glad to see her again. A crush?
I smirked as Peyton's expression turned even more upset. He rolled his eyes..
Peyton: if you want to think that way. Alright, let's go!
Peyton got the gas and we started driving. On our way to the hospital I couldn't get it out of my mind... the things he had said about Jessica. I knew it wasn't my business but it was still Jess we were talking about. I turned to him.
Me: seriously, Peyton. Do you have any feelings for her?
Peyton's expression hadn't changed while we were driving. He looked at me and then back to the road.
Peyton: I said what I said. Take it how you want it.
Me: well..., you're not denying it.
Peyton: I don't know what to tell you. Haven't talked to her.
Me: if this is about talking, you know I can arrange a little date.
We stopped at the red light and he looked at me.
Peyton: look at you! Being all matchmaker ready and all.
Me: always. So what to you say?
Peyton: a date with Jessica? Hmm..
He looked out of the window with a smirk and started driving again. He looked at me.
Peyton: we might have few problems.
Me: okay?
Peyton: okay, first of all, she's in a relationship with Eric. That will raise questions.
Me: that's simple. Friend dates are normal.
Peyton raised an eyebrow.
Peyton: those even exist?
Me: it might be a bit complicated but it's not science.
Peyton: still don't think Eric is okay with it but fine.
Me: and the second problem?
Peyton: well, you see..
He studdered a bit saying it.
Peyton: the last time I was together with someone, I was with you, kissing on the bathroom floor.
I blushed and looked at my feet. I tried to stay neutral and looked at him.
