I know I promised. But this was different. I wasn't that crazy.Admittedly, I lost my temper to simple aggravation hearing the ancient songs of death and despair. The curse of the Father was driving me mad, as was the attitude of its victim. It all disturbed me to the point that I would give him what he wanted in the first place. Distance.
I had to text Sam, soon after I left, of course. Because it wasn't his fault.
-See you soon, I hope
-Where are you going Haze? Better tell Cas at least
- I will
I'm sorry. He is getting lost I can't hear it anymore-Its alright sis I get it. Be careful
How I loved sweet, empathetic Sam.
I waited to call until I was well on the road in a rental car, which I chose not to steal so perhaps I wouldn't get in trouble. Castiel made a face whenever I got in trouble.
I worried he'd make that face enough already when I told him I ran away again. Even if I couldn't see it.I made a stop first. Something in the earth told me to be ready. To be armed. She carried the wheels to a place that made custom leathers.
They were estranged but happy to craft me an unusual request.
Armor.Padded but thin and form fitting. Flexible. A hooded corset with small guards on the shoulders. Metal studs protecting the important places. Modern and medieval all at once, and went perfectly with my leather jacket I loved so much.
Battle ready. Be the valor. Tame the hair back in little braids at the sides to keep my vision clear.
A warrior princess. The distraction cost me a few days. I forgot to call him.
Craftsmen gave me a motorcycle that broke down just as I heard him call me instead."Cas?"
"Where are you?" he already sounded like he made the face.
"Dakotas...I'm sorry I forgot to call. Distractions..."
"What happened to not running away?"
"I didn't run away. I left. Different."
"How do you figure?"
I sighed. Can't make him understand over the phone.
"Can you get me?""What? Are you hurt? Where are you, Hazel!?"
"I'm fine. Just broke the stupid bike..."
I heard him sigh now. But it was a little amused. Pretty Bird wasn't mad. Happy to hear I sound different.
"Alright, stay put...I'll come get you."☆☆☆☆☆
I waited a day almost, but he found me. He always did. Ugly car pulled up in the middle of the night as I cowered against the bike tires in the ditch, out of sight. Forgot how scared the dark made me. The headlights were welcome but I was still frozen.
Cas called out to me from the car. He forgot too, at first, before getting out to find me.
"You ok?" he asked, crouching in the ditch with me. I just nodded and let him pull me up. "Come on."Ugly car was at least comforting. It smelled like him now, not the previous owner.
Cas was quiet. Remembering his walls. Time apart had made him hardened. Me too, I think. He waited a few minutes of driving to say anything to me.
"So...are you going to tell me what happened?""Snitches didn't tell you?" I bit back, wearily rubbing my eyes.
"Sam said you had an argument with Dean, and took off," he said calmly.
