There are forces of light and dark in all things. Most are born either in the sun, or the shadow, and the conflict is not difficult to decide on. Even with temptation, and mistakes, all things that crawl the earth know where they stand.
But some, and only some, are born in between, and there is more struggle. Not for right and wrong, as that is a trivial consequence, but for which of these forces rules over the nature of the beast.
A cupid once said to me, The Seer is a neutral being. I didn't really understand that until recently. Yes, I was meant to defend the Earth. But by what means, mattered not to the nature of my essence, to my power.
Without rhyme or reason, my choices would be driven by either by the light or the dark, and there was little control of that to my conscience.
It wasn't fair, to be so easily and unwilling swayed by the shadow. And yet, when the sun beckoned me, I could follow just as easily. The cruelest of conflicts to bestow and curse upon a human.
The Seer was indeed, an abomination.
"Look, I'm as glad as anyone that Stella got her groove back, okay?" Dean's continued bitter bickering shook my heavy thoughts away, reminding me I was home, and the philosophical trappings of my mind were not reality,
"...but you let Metatron go!?"
"Dean," the angel in the chair beside me grumbled in annoyance, "How many times are you gonna repeat that question?"
"I'm gonna say it again," my eldest brother shot back, equally annoyed, "You let Metatron GO!?"
Growling through sigh and rubbing my stressed temple, I came to the defense.
"He's not going anywhere, Dean."
"If he makes a move, if he draws the slightest attention, the full force of angelkind will snuff him out," Castiel further argued, "Look, neither of you saw him. He is a human, and a pitiable one at that. He's not a threat to us. I mean...I put him in traction."
"Guys, bigger fish to fry here," Sam spoke out to remind us, "Amara is in the wind."
My flesh crawled at that thought. It was as if the moment she eacaped the watchful clutches of Crowley, her presence in the waking universe was stronger than ever to my senses.
"Yeah," Dean calmed and agreed despondently, "God's fucking sister..."
"You said you were close," Cas came at him with quiet accusation, "Dean, how did she get away?"
My brother stood his ground on the outside. But I wasn't fooled. He felt like he failed, and more than that, like he'd done something wrong. Or been used.
"I'm sorry, what part of God's freaking sister did you not understand? She overpowered me! End of story."
Not entirely a lie. But not the truth. I caught myself glaring suspiciously a bit too late, before Cas and Sam both noticed and observed him warily as well. Dean didn't have any clear words to hear in his head, but his heart was full of shame and confusion.
"What's our plan here, guys ? You said you got everything you could out of Metatron...so where on Earth are we gonna find an answer on how to stop her?"
Sam and I exchanged knowing glances. Not on Earth...
Thankfully, the other two did not catch it.
"I don't suppose God's decided to share any wisdom on the matter?" Dean asked Sam sarcastically.
Sam flexed his jaw.
"I'll look into the lore," he said, knowing full well he likely would not find anything.
And I knew full well, that who or whatever was giving psychic suggestions, had not stopped doing so. It had been some time since my first and only encounter with such a thing, but I suspected it would not be the last. Someone out there was demanding that we do what needed to be done.
Reunite some of the Archangels.
