Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten: The Tales of Zuko and Makki

"Hey, we have a problem," Zuko caught mine and Iroh's attention from tea duties. "Some of the customers are on to us. Don't look now, but one of them is a girl over there at the corner table. She knows we're Fire Nation."

Iroh and I turned to see the said girl. From the quick glance that I got, I could see that she was a teenage girl with dark brown hair that was styled into two long braids.

"Didn't I say don't look?" Zuko whispered angrily.

Huh... I want to laugh, but I can't...

"You're right, Zuko," Iroh smiled. "I've seen that girl in here quite a lot. Seems to me she has quite a little crush on you."

"What?"

"Are you really that dense?" I smiled.

"You're the one who's dense," Zuko glared.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Makki, I believe there is another person who has been showing up quite a lot for you too," Iroh's smile grew.

"Huh?"

"Are you talking about that guy sitting at the middle table over there?" Zuko asked. "He was the other person I suspected."

I followed Zuko's eyes as he looked over at the table. Sitting at the table was a teenage boy with short dark brown hair and tan skin.

"Ah, now do you understand the power of tea?" Iroh asked.

"I don't think this has anything to do with tea..." I said.

"Thank you for the tea," the girl from earlier handed Zuko some coins. "...What's your name?"

Now with a closer look, I can see that she has fair, pale skin and hazel eyes.

...She's pretty.

"My name's Lee," Zuko turned to face her. "My uncle and I just moved here."

I feel forgotten..!

"Hi, Lee, my name's Jin. Thank you and, well, I was wondering if you would like to go out some time," Jin asked.

Zuko just stared at her.

"He'd love to," Iroh answered for him.

"Great! I'll meet you in front of the shop at sundown," Jin smiled before leaving.

"...Someone's got a date~" I teased.

What... What am I feeling?

Zuko just frowned at me and Iroh.

"Now, it's your turn," Iroh said as he handed me a full teapot.

"Excuse me?"

"A young man is waiting for you," Iroh smiled widely as he shoved me towards the boy's table.

Why do I feel like I'm going to embarrass myself...

"...Would you like some more tea?" I ask the teen.

"Yes, please," he smiles. "...I'm Shen, by the way."

After approaching him, I noticed that he had dark green eyes

"Oh, I'm Tanna," I smiled as I pour into his empty cup.

"So, um, I... I wanted..." Shen stumbled on his words before smiling shyly. "Sorry, I'm sorta new at this."
