( 🎵 Gaho - Stay Here )

It finally clicked for the lad how Yunhee must've foreseen this. She must've known that his parents will make the decision for him because his life was practically a book written by his mother.

Seonghwa couldn't have been able to erase how she looked. Even with her eyes closed, he could almost feel the burn of those tears threatening to spill. The image of it didn't disappear, staying inside his mind up until he drove through the gate of his parents' house.

The door flung open, startling the couple who were sitting by the living room talking about god-knows-what. Mrs. Park had always thought she knew everything about her son. But as he stormed inside the room with his eyes filled with nothing but rage, she starting questioning was that really the boy she raised.

"You just can't stop making the decision for me, can you?" he raised his voice, making the woman jump on her seat. "You couldn't have waited for me to discuss all of this?!"

"Seonghwa, watch how you talk to your mother," Mr. Park exclaimed, standing up from his seat.

"Seonghwa, sweetheart, what difference would waiting for you make?" his mother asked, still perplexed, "you'd still have to marry her."

The younger ran his fingers through his hair, letting it grip on for a second just so he could prevent the bomb from exploding. He closed his eyes momentarily, taking a deep breath after. "Has it ever occurred to you that maybe I don't want to marry her?"

They shouldn't have been surprised. Seonghwa had never said he loved Eunji nor had he ever said he wanted to be engaged to her. But they were and it didn't seem like a single one of them had any idea what to answer because their son had never gone against them before. "Seonghwa, what are you-."

"I was going to tell the both of you I wanted the engagement off," he caterwauled, "and I still want to break off this engagement that is based on nothing but business."

"Son, you know you can't do that," his father argued, "you know how important this is for the company."

Seonghwa scoffed in disbelief. "I see. So how I feel, is a lot less important than the company."

"Is it because of Hwang Yunhee?" the woman's lowered her voice to one barely audible.

"What?" Seonghwa's head snap towards his mother.

"Is this because Hwang Yunhee came back?"

"What if I say it is?" the lad replied almost immediately. "What if I say it is because of her? Is it wrong for me to want to be with someone I love?"

"Seonghwa, you know that girl is not good for you-."

"Why? Because she was raised by a single father who later ran away because of debt? Because she has a daughter?" the younger provoked.

"People like her are only going to fish for your money, for your success," she began and he could already feel the anger rising from the pit of his stomach, "Seonghwa, I'm your mother, I know what's best for you."

"People like her are the ones who actually gave me purpose," he retorted. His mother was going to throw something back but he quickly continued, "people like her are the ones that stopped me from feeling like a puppet on a string."

"What do you-."

"Have I ever made any decision for myself?" he looked at both of his parents who were dumbfounded by the situation, "you two practically wrote how I'm supposed to live my life. You told me to study hard and I did it for you. Graduated highschool, top of my class. You told me to stop pursuing music and I dropped it for you. You told me to take business as a major though you know how much I hated that through and through, but I took it for you. You told me to take over the company as soon as I graduated even though I wasn't ready. And now you want to plan my wedding too?"

"What we're doing is simply leading you to the road of success," his father remarked, "and you're being ungrateful. God knows what would have happened if I let you do things your way, Seonghwa. Would you be able to make it to the top if you pursue music? Would that be better than being a CEO like you are right now? And being together with Yunhee, what would that bring you? She's no one."

"Maybe it will, because you don't know how meaningless my life had felt," he retorted once again, "you don't know how many times I questioned what my existence really mean to the both of you but Yunhee never made me question that. And she was able to bring me the happiness that you two failed to give."

"Happiness can't bring you success and the decision has been made," the older enunciated, "whether or not you like it, you're going to marry Eunji. I don't want to hear another word of rebuttal."

The room that was well air-conditioned felt like it was burning. It was suffocating to stand in there. "I am not going to plan this wedding nor am I going to marry her." That was the last thing he said before storming out of the door.
