Song: Try (Acoustic/live) by Melissa Polinar. I absolutely love this song.

[Friday 7:10am]

LAILA’S POV

Friday had finally come. Jorden was being so weird about this date. I didn’t know what to expect. Every time I asked about it, he always gave the vaguest answer possible.

Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrate. It was a call from Jorden.

“Hello?” I answer smiling.

“Good Morning beautiful.” He said full of energy. I could hear wind rushing in the background. He must’ve been in the car.

“Where are you going? It’s not even 7:30am yet.”

“That’s for me to know and you to not know”

There was a knock at the door.

“Hold on just a sec, someone’s knocking.” I say heading for the door.

I open it to see a teenage boy with a “Janie’s Coffee Shop” T-shirt on.  He was Asian and had braces. His dark hair was swept to one side. He was holding a paper bag, a coffee, and his own bag was slung across his shoulder. He held his arms out to give me the items in his hands.

“Um, what’s this?” I ask him, confused.

“It’s a French vanilla cappuccino and a bagel.” He said bluntly.

“I didn’t order anything.” I said shaking my head.

“I know. It’s from...” The teen said as he squinted at the receipt. “Jorden.” He said smiling wide, showing his braces.

“Jorden, what is this?”

“It’s a French vanilla cappuccino and a bagel…Oh, and that’s Evan” He said with a chuckle. “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, you know.”

I smile skeptically and take the bag and coffee. “Thanks….Evan…”

Then, Evan reaches into his bag and pulls out 4 red envelopes, each with a different number scribbled on it. “Pick one.” Evan says.

“Jorden…”

“Pick one.” Jorden says over the phone.

“This is so weird.”

“Pick one.” Jorden and Evan say in unison. I grab envelope number 2.

“Have a good day.” Evan says scurrying off. I open the envelope.

“It’s a picture of... a water falling into a puddle?” I said trying to decifer the photo.

I hear him chuckle.“Not just any puddle. It's a drop in the ocean” Jorden says over the phone, like it's supposed to be significant. I can hear him smiling at my confusion

“What does this mean?” I ask smiling as well.

“Phase one is complete. You will receive further instruction later today. But for now, enjoy your breakfast and have a good day at work.”

“You know you’re a complete psychopath, right?” I say taking a sip of the warm cappuccino.

“You know, I’m perfectly fine with that as long as I get to be your complete psychopath. Now, finish up breakfast and I’ll see you tonight.” He said smoothly.

“I’ll see you tonight” I said laughing and shaking my head as I ended the call.

I was so excited to get off work. Only 1 hour left and I’m out of here.
