Surprise!! New update. I couldn't sleep so here we are. Read the A/N at the end when you finish. It's important-ish.

Song: Jealous by Nick Jonas. (It was the best I could do since this chapter occurred spur of the moment)

LAILA’S POV

“A white boy, huh?” she said smugly.

“Yes mother, he’s white. So what?”

“Nothing, I’m just surprised you found someone to love you.”

“I do love her Mrs. Mason, very much. I see our relationship growing so much. That’s why I insisted on meeting you.” Jorden grabbed my hand.

“Yeah right, what is it that you actually want from my daughter? It surely isn’t her looks.”

“Why would you say that!?” I objected.

“Laila, mind your mouth. I’m talking to him.” She said with a villainous stare.

Jorden began to speak but nothing came out.

“Mhm. Just as I thought. Unlike Cameron, you know nothing of what my daughter really needs.”

“Your daughter needs love and compassion, not abuse.” Jorden spat.

“Is that so?” said a familiar voice from the hallway.

Suddenly, Cameron Waters came out of the dark hallway. He stood next to my mother with something in his hand that I couldn’t fully make out.

“What is he doing here?” I say as my eyes begin to sting.

“Oh sweetie, isn’t it obvious?” My mother says looking at Jorden.

Cam raises his arm and points a gun at Jorden slowly.

“No!” I shout as he pulls the trigger.

Jorden falls to the ground. His warm blood creating a pool on the floor as I kneel beside him frantically trying to stop the bleeding.

“Laila,” he murmurs as the blood trickles from his mouth.

“Yes baby, I’m here.” I say crying and rubbing my fingers through his hair.

“I love you so, so much.”

“I love you too.” I say hysterically.

He takes his last breath.

“Don’t worry,” I hear Cam say.

I turn towards him only to come face to face with his gun. The heat from its last fire is creating a burn on my forehead and the gun continues to sizzle and smoke on my skin.

He looks with at me with a sinister grin and says, “You’ll see him again... maybe.”

BANG!!!

I wake up, panting frantically in a cold sweat.

“Laila, what’s wrong?” Jorden says sitting up and rubbing his eyes.

I throw my arms around him tightly and hold back the tears.

He wraps his arms around me as well, rubbing my back with his hands.

“Another bad dream?” he asks. I nod still clinging on to him.

“You know, I wish you would tell me what they’re about. Then maybe I could help ease your mind.”

I still hadn’t told Jorden the story behind Cam and ever since Jorden asked to meet my family, I’ve had nightmares about it.  My mother loved Cam, probably because they both enjoyed making me feel horrible.
