It was the first day of high school for Emerald. She was happy that she could meet all her friends after a while. The classroom was filled with their chattering.
There were new students too. Among them, one had a special attire.
Pale skin, brown eyes, black curls flowing down her shoulders - a perfect beauty.
All the boys were trying their best to impress her. And the girls were jealous of her beauty.
Classes started. The students as well as the teachers were enthusiastic.
At lunchtime, every boy wanted to sit with her. But she preferred to be alone. She ate nothing but drank something like cola from a can.
After school, Emerald went to the boarding. She was a boarder and her best friends Leydah and Sera were day scholars.
She had a new room this year. Until last year she stayed in the dormitory. She was happy that she got a more private space this year.
But the matron told her she would have to share her room with one more person. Anyway, she was happy with the fact that she got a private space.
After a while, there was a knock on the door. Emerald opened it and was amazed to know that the perfect beauty was her roommate.
"Hey, I am Katherine. Matron told me that I was supposed to stay here." Katherine greeted.
"Ah yes, she mentioned it to me too. Come in. " Emy welcomed her.
"I am Emerald Haverford. You can call me Emy. Well, that's what my friends call me." Emy smiled at her.
"Sure. And you can call me Kate." Kate replied.
