Chapter:21

The sun's rays hit Emy's face, reminding her that the next day has arrived. She felt refreshed. She went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Her eyes shone brightly, indicating that she had a perfect sleep the previous night. She finished all daily routines and got ready for school as soon as possible.

Kate was not yet ready when Emy set off for school. So she decided to go alone. She searched for Seth everywhere after reaching the school. Finally, she found him sitting on a bench on the ground. She went and sat near him. He turned his head to see the person who was sitting beside him and was taken aback when he realised it was Emy.

"Why are you so early today?" he asked.

"No specific reason."she giggled.

"Emy, I need to tell you something," he said.

Emy for once thought that he was going to confess his love for her. She was extremely happy and asked him what the matter was. But his next statement made her heart shatter into a million pieces.

"Emy, I love Kate." He stated.

Emy bit her lower lip in order to hold back her tears and refrain her voice from shivering.

"That's so cool. Why don't you confess it to her then?" She asked sounding casual.

"You know her character. She doesn't even like to be around me. I tried so many times. But I can't. She doesn't even consider me as a good friend,Emy." muttered Seth.

" I will talk to her. I will help you out in this," she assured him even though it felt like a dagger penetrating deep into her heart.

Just then the bell rang alerting every students to get back to their classes. She found this as an excuse and went from there as soon as she can so that she can free those tears which she was trying hard to hold back. She walked to the hallway as soon as she can,but she accidentally bumped into someone. She lifted up her head and realised that it was James.

"Hey",he greeted.

Emy lost her self control. She leaned onto his shoulder and bursted into tears. James understood that something was wrong. He hugged her tightly and patted her head to calm her. Slowly she pulled out from his hug and said,

"He is in love with Kate. He told me. And I promised to help him. He is not meant for me. Kate deserves him more than me. "

She tried to fake a smile and walked to the restroom to clean her messed up face. James could see her broken heart. He sensed the pain she was undergoing. He felt guilty as he was the one who triggered her mind to fall in love with Seth. Though he did that to save his brother from the clutches of a vampire, he never had the heart to think how much that would hurt Emy's feelings if he ever rejects her.

He felt like a shockwave passed through him. His hairs rose up like they were attracted to magnets. He felt the sudden rise in his body temperature. His eyes turned golden. He realized that he just engraved on Emerald.
