ARNE'S POV

Ring... Ring...

I groan to the sound of my phone buzzing continuously.

'What the fuck, man?' I hold my head on either side tight enough preventing it from bursting.

Ring... Ring...

"Someone better be dead, to wake me up this early" I yell in the phone.

"A very good morning to you too, pumpkin"

"Jackson!" I spat. "What the hell?"

"Well... It's ten in the morning so it's practically not early and no, no one's dead" he tells.

"Then I'm not talking anymore. Bye," I retort.

"Oh wait... Serious talk now" he chuckles. "Do you keep forgetting that you're the owner and baker of a café. Merlin couldn't contact you at all and she finally had to call me. Seriously, pumpkin, do I have to handle all your issues though I'm on my business trip? Do you mind growing up someday?" he finishes and I can imagine a scowl across his face.

"No!" I spat. "Now, would you like to tell me what's wrong?"

"Well... Merlin said you left the café yesterday after baking and didn't come back" a long pause "....she said that there was a customer request for one of your pastries and they weren't in stock. Would you go to the café now? Do you want me to talk to her or the customer? Cause it's completely fine if you don't want to go"

"No, it's ok. I'm fine. I could manage this" I reply sincerely.

"Okay, then. Better be back home if you aren't feeling well. Okay?" I nod as an answer and when I realise he is on the call I reply with a yes, with that he hung up.

"Aimer" my café.

When I and Jackson left for Canada for our graduation. I opted for culinary arts, as Jackson wanted business administration as a career. We both got into the same university. As my sister, Bethany completed her masters her place was fully available. She made her way back home and we shifted in her apartment.

Jackson has been with me at every step of life. From helping me through my depression, supporting my family when we lost my father, taking care of me in Canada to set up the café, Aimer.

Two months ago, Jackson got a job here, in New York. So we had to shift, as my café can be anywhere with a fine audience but, his job was important.

I lazily walk to the bathroom, after doing my deeds I take a shower as I change into a pair of blue jeans with a white vest and black shirt unbuttoned.
I tug into my sneakers and decide to leave my hair uncombed.

I head out of my bedroom and make my way downstairs. I quickly pick up an apple and grab my keys. As Jackson is away I barely had a proper meal. I may be a chef but who doesn't like being spoiled.

I get into my truck and start driving towards the café. It takes fifteen minutes as I park and walk into the "staff only" section.

"Boss! Finally! We are half an hour away from opening. Help!" Merlin burst onto me and I fall a step back.

"Calm down, Merlin. We got this" I assure and detach myself from her deathly grip and walk into the kitchen.
I roll my sleeves up and look at the "today's do to" list.

"WHITE CHOCOLATE AND LEMON PASTRY" is been highlighted. I put a questioning gaze towards Merlin. She adjusts her glasses and she makes her way beside me.
