6 Months Pregnant

A lot had happened over the past couple of months. I had moved to a place that I really liked, it was going to be a nice place for the baby to grow up. The best way to describe it was the more appropriate version of Malcolm's place. He had come over and was currently walking around, inspecting the place.

Malcolm: This is nice

Celine: Thanks, but we got to go. Think we got enough time for ice cream?

Malcolm: There's always time for ice cream

As soon as we got our ice cream, we got a call that we had a crime scene, so we went straight there. We walked into the backyard where the rest of the team was. Once we got closer, we noticed the victim was dressed in an army uniform.

JT: You're really eating ice cream right now

Celine: JT, can you like not shame me for eating while I'm pregnant? Thanks

JT: I was-

Gil: Quit while you're ahead JT

Celine: What do we know?

Edrisa: The suit sewn to his body, so I don't think he was originally wearing it

Celine: What's the cause of death?

Edrisa: He was injected with a lethal dose of fluoxetine

Dani: What's that?

Celine: It's a drug prescribed to soldiers with PTSD

Gil: What about family?

JT: He had a wife and two kids-a boy and a girl, they had gone to visit a family friend and they came back to find him like this

After Malcolm did his profiling thing and we questioned the wife for more information, we went back to the station. I needed to sit down and take a moment to myself.

Malcolm: We don't have as much time with the body as usual, the woman wants to bury him as soon as possible--you okay?

Celine: Yea it's just...this case reminds me a lot of everything we went through with my father

Malcolm: You've never told me about it

Celine: I know...my mother took my brother & I to go and visit our aunt, my father stayed at the house so he could do some work on the lawn. He'd been back home from deployment for about 3 months and he said something to my mother everyday about how the lawn man had been killing his yard. We got back and my brother ran to the backyard to show my dad this toy our aunt had given him, but my dad was just lying there with his throat slit. He ended up being killed by a terrorist whose brother had been arrested by my dad and his brigade. I remember being so angry at my mother for forcing me to go to the funeral afterwards, having everybody look at us as if we were birds with broken wings. I'll be okay if I never have to hear another bag pipe again and don't even get me started on the three-volley salute--

Malcolm: Wait- his wife said he told her about an incident with another member of the brigade, a guy named Antonio St. Thomas. She said he showed up to their house accusing him of stealing all the credit for something that happened when they were deployed, but that was the last of him.

Celine: And?

Malcolm: A pin was missing from his uniform

He opened the file and began flipping through the pages until he found what he was looking for. He put the picture down in front of me.

Malcolm: This one, what is it?

Celine: The medal of honor, you get it through acts of valor

Malcolm: We got our guy, you coming?

Celine: I think I'm gonna go home, you guys go

I watched as they got a location and then left with ½ the station to go and get the guy. I ended up walking to my father's grave, I sighed wiping some of the grass off his headstone.

Celine: I'd sit with you, but I wouldn't be able to get back up. She's starting to get pretty big; I wish she'd be able to meet you. Her other grandfather...I'm not even going to get into it. I just wanted to come out here because a case I had today made me miss you a lot, I just wish you were here. You would've liked Malcolm, I'm sure you would try and scare him off, but you would've ended up liking him.

I smiled at the thought of them meeting. Malcolm would've been so intimidated by him initially, and he would've spoiled his granddaughter to the moon and back.

Celine: Love you dad

I walked away from the grave and headed to my house, I decided to call Malcolm to make sure everything had gone okay.

Malcolm-Hey

Celine-Everything okay?

Malcolm-Yea, we caught the guy. Gil's gonna drop the medal off to the family. You doing okay?

Celine-If I say yes are you going to believe me?

Malcolm-Nope. How about I get us milkshakes and when I get there you can tell me all about it.

Celine-Only if it's strawberry

Malcolm-Got it, see you soon

Celine-Bye

I smiled as I hung up the phone. If there was one person on this earth who could brighten my day in my darkest moments, it was Malcom Bright. I grabbed a book to read so I could stay up until he got there. When he did, we did exactly what he said. We drunk milkshakes, and we talked until we fell asleep. We ended the night like many others, falling asleep on one another, it was starting to be my favorite way to end days.
