Malcolm coming back and working with me took some time to adjust too. I still wasn't used to it completely, but I was trying. I had just gotten to the precinct and I saw Malcolm in the meeting room, flipping through files. I walked up to him and he looked up at me, his demeanor changing slightly.
Malcolm: Hey
Celine: Hey Malcolm...listen I had a question. My doctor said the baby-
Malcolm: Have you read this file? It's the fruit ninja case, it's really interesting I'm gonna go talk to Gil about it
I sighed and he walked off. All day I'd been feeling more on the crappy side, so I found myself in my office, drinking a glass of water. I heard a knock at the door causing me to look up and seeing Malcolm
Celine: How'd the fruit ninja case go?
Malcolm: It was interesting to say the least
He entered the office and glanced down at the glass of water before looking back up at me.
Celine: It's water Malcolm
I watched as his demeanor relaxed and he sat down across from me. I finished the water and set the glass down.
Celine: So, you do care about the baby?
Malcolm: I'm sorry about earlier. This whole becoming a father thing is pretty scary, considering my father is a serial killer. I just decided to dive into work instead of dealing with it
Celine: How do you think I feel? I mean I was terrified because I'd put myself in the mindset that I was going to have to do this alone, but then you came back...so I'd really appreciate it if we can be scared together.
He smiled and nodded his head. He reached over and picked up a book off my desk and read the cover page.
Malcolm: The Art of War, interesting pick. Think we're gonna have to invest in some more child friendly books
I smiled at him and we spent the rest of the night talking, about any & everything. From the baby to learning more about each other, it was just a really great way to end a bad day.
