8 Months Pregnant

I was in literal Hell right now. I watched as Jessica would hold up a baby outfit and my mother would hold up a pair of shoes.

Celine: Guys' she already has more than enough clothes

Jessica: But she could grow into this outfit and it's perfect for the Winter

Mom: Oh Kadence! look it comes with a bow to match

Jessica: I haven't had a baby to dress up in so long

I watched as the two of them got deeper and deeper into the conversation. I used the opportunity that had presented itself to me and slipped out, heading to the station. The team was in the meeting room and their conversation cut off when I entered.

Gil: Aren't you supposed to be at home

Celine: No...why would I be home

Dani: Oh no reason, just that you're 8 months pregnant and this job is just a little dangerous

Celine: Relax, I'm going to be at home for months after I have the baby. So, with that being said you're not getting rid of me until contractions start

Malcolm: Have fun shopping

Celine: Please don't get me started

Malcolm's watch beeped and he picked up a trash can that was nearby and held it up to me. The wave of nausea came as I threw up into the trashcan.

Malcolm: And there goes breakfast

JT: How'd you know she was about to throw up?

Malcolm: Happens every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 11:30

Dani: You never fail to amaze me Bright

She handed me a piece of gum and Malcolm put the trash can back down. I looked over at Gil

Celine: So, what's on the agenda?

Gil: For you, paperwork

Celine: But I don't do paperwork

Gil: You do today

I sighed as I carried the first stack of papers to my desk. I didn't realize how boring paperwork actually was, eventually Malcolm came in to help me with some of it. After about 15 minutes he got bored of it too.

Malcolm: Let's go for a walk

I offered him my hands and he helped me to my feet. We went to the park and we were just walking around, talking about our childhoods, what we wanted to be when we were younger, etc. etc.

Malcolm: It's getting late, we should call it

I felt my pockets realizing my keys weren't in there. I sighed and looked at Malcolm, who looked at me with a raised eyebrow.

Malcolm: What?

Celine: My keys are still on my desk

Malcolm: We'll go get them then head over to your place

I nodded and we walked back to the station. It was dark inside, a little too dark for my liking.

Celine: Malcolm-

Before I could say anything, the lights cut on and everybody yelled surprise. I looked around realizing it was a baby shower. I looked at Malcolm who was holding my keys in his hand, I grabbed them with a smile.

Dani: This was all my idea by the way

Celine: Of course it was you

I had said I didn't want a baby shower, but I actually had fun. This was better than anything that Jessica would've planned, half of New York would've probably been there. After the festivities Malcolm and I went back to my place.

Celine: You might as well stay. It's late and you had too many baby bottles of champagne

Malcolm: I only had two, one for me and one for you

Celine: How thoughtful of you, but I've started to like sparkling cider

He chuckled as he flopped down on my couch, looking around at everything and eventually at me.

Malcolm: I'm really glad we're friends

Celine: Yea, me too

Malcolm: Hey what're all those books?

He stood up and walked over to them, reading some of the summaries of them. He looked so gorgeous in this moment, a few strands of hair out of place; he was relaxed. He looked back up at me waiting for an answer.

Celine: Sorry, those are the books I haven't had time to put in the bookshelf. She's got a family of bookworms so there's a lot of them...

He walked over to the bookcase and began putting some of the books up, and he was following the way I had them organized.

Malcolm: What's that stack?

Celine: Those are the ones I've already read to her

Malcolm: Well in that case, how about tonight we read...Island of the Blue Dolphins

He grabbed the book and went and laid down in the bed, I followed him and laid beside him making myself comfortable.

Celine: How's she gonna hear you all the way up here?

He grabbed a small pillow and laid it across my legs, angling his voice towards my belly as he started to read. My eyes got heavier and heavier with every page he read, and eventually I let sleep take over.
