Chapter Twenty-Three:

Snow Balls:

TW: Mention of alcohol, suggestive content

Eren's POV

When I woke up the snow was still falling but Levi was no longer by my side. I got up and headed downstairs only to find him cleaning his gun on the counter, "Morning," I said as I walked up to him. He glanced up and smiled, "Hey, it's about time that you got up-" Judging by his statement I assumed that it was later than normal. I glanced over at the clock on the stove, "2:00 pm? You should've woken me up," I complained as I rested my elbows on the marble. "You needed the sleep," he said calmly as he picked up his gun and checked it over to see if he was satisfied with his work.

"Listen Eren, I have to go out and pick up liquor for the bar, thenI'll drop it off at the place and I can't take you with me," I nodded, "So. That means that you have to be extra careful while I'm gone. Before I leave I'll be locking all the windows and you will only be allowed in two rooms, my library, and the bathroom. I'm not risking you getting hurt. We'll eat beforehand and I'll show you around the place," "Isn't that a bit much..?" I asked. "I'm making sure you don't die," He said coldly, "Don't argue with me," He shot a cold glare up at me and I didn't say another word. I walked over to the window in his living room. "Hey..why don't we go to the park...on a walk?" I suggested. "Sure."

I walked back upstairs to get dressed, and figured I would just heat a pastry before we left. I didn't change out of the hoodie, andI threw on a clean pair of boxers, and jeans. When I got back down stairs Levi was already dressed in his coat and shoes. I slid on my sneakers, and we left his apartment.

As we drove I took the time to admire how beautiful our city was, despite all the hustle and bustle. Everyone was out rummaging around for last minute gifts because Christmas was on wednesday. Our school was pretty stupid. They gave us two weeks off instead of one but no one really minded, we all liked having the extra time off. We pulled into the parking lot and he parked the car furthest from any other one; I didn't blame him, his care was expensive.

As soon as we got out of the car a harsh wind bit my cheeks, "Damn its cold," Levi smirked and took my hand as soon as we started to walk down the path. Ten seconds ago I was just cursing the weather for being so cold, now I was thanking it. I could blame any sort of blush on the temperature.

We passed a small playground that lay almost deserted. I used to come here with Armin and Mikasa in elementary school, I was shocked at how run down it had become. Only two kids played in the snow with their parents sitting and talking on a nearby bench. Just like Armin's mother and mine. I can still remember the day they were told what happened to mom, they cried, I cried and I was told that eventually things would get better. They were so wrong.

We decided to take a path that led through the woods and out to a small pond that Levi said would be frozen over. As we walked down the trail Levi started to hum and I glanced over at him.

"Shit ow!" I looked back up to see what had just struck me in the head. "Goddamn tree," I said annoyed.

"You gotta watch out for those branches, us shorter people don't have to deal with that," Levi joked mockingly as he smirked and looked up at me. "Oh fuck off!"

"Only if you watch me~" He mumbled and diverted his eyes back to the path.

"Okay....?" I stammered. "Wait what!?" He let out a chuckle and went back to humming. Levi was an...interesting person to say the least but I really did enjoy my time with him. I had been so scared of him before but now it wasn't like that. As we approached the pond Levi let go of my hand and I took in the view. We each walked our own ways and I didn't know what to think. It was all so beautiful. The ice was clear and you could see the plants thriving. Icicles hung from tree branches and ledges of the surrounding rock, I noticed one ledge in particular. It had a big willow tree at the top and it seemed to overlook the whole area. I took a deep breath in and reached my hand into the snow. Time for some fun.

I ball snow into my hands and without a moment's notice I flung it at levi, hitting him dead in the arm. He whipped around and I was almost scared for a second, he shot his bitter glaze at me and furrowed his eyebrows, "You asked for it Ocean Eyes." Levi quickly reached down and flung a snowball at me hitting my leg. Let the war begin.

We ran around the beach area of the pound going back and forth chucking snowballs at one another, a few of mine hit the target but he was super agile with his movement; all of his however hit me. We jumped around and ran about in the snow finding places to duck and hide behind. I grabbed a big one and without looking flung it into Levi's direction. I didn't miss this one. I hit him. Dead in the face.

He gently brushed away the snow and before I knew it Levi tackled me to the ground. He pinned me down and he smirked, "Well would you look at that. Another excuse to get on top of you. You really are asking for it Ocean Eyes," He sighed and placed a gentle kiss on my lips and then slathered the biggest pile of snow right onto my face, he got up and stood above me smirking. "God Dammit Silver,"

"Why did you want to show me that place...?" I asked as he pulled forward for the greenlight, "It's beautiful year round, and I go there when I want to be alone, relax, or If I regret doing something. The water gets perfect sunlight in the summer and it's a nice place to go swimming. Not many people know about it so I use it to my advantage," He never took his eyes off the road and was always very adamant about where he was and who was around him. He had fantastic senses.
