After a video of me playing in front Harmony's booth gone viral, Victor invited me to hang out around the booth and perform short songs. Sa loob lang ng ilang araw, sanay na ako tumugtog kasama ang iba't-ibang miyembro ng Music club. Gamay ko na rin ang controls sa booth namin, mula sa LED screen hanggang sa speakers.
"The Welcome Festival won't be as successful kung 'di ka dumating, Rose," Victor said to me. Today is the last day of the Welcome Festival and we had managed to secure 60 new club members. In total, our member count is as many as Shakespeare club. "Sigurado ako na dahil sa maraming members natin, we'll have enough money to buy new instruments!"
"Don't forget the 'Camp Rock!'" sabi ni Jekyll bago kinagat ang binili niyang burger. Kakatapos lang ng afternoon set namin at pagod na kami sa kaka-perform dito. Still, iba pa rin ang tuwa kapag nag-peperform ka sa harap ng mga tao at napapangiti mo sila.
Kumuha ako ng burger mula sa lamesa. "What's 'Camp Rock?'" tanong ko kina Victor at Jekyll bago kainin ang hinahawak ko.
Victor swallowed a bite first, then said, "It's an out-of-school activity and a benefit concert. 'Yung pera na maiipon natin sa pagbebenta ng tickets ay mapupunta sa St. Nicholas Haven, isang orphanage."
I smiled. Victor and Jekyll may look like assholes pero sigurado ako na ideya nila ang proyekto na 'to. Dahil doon, they have earned my respect.
"I'm interested! How can I join?" tanong ko sa kanila. Ubos ko na 'yung kinakain kong burger.
"It's not yet approved by the board. Most likely, it will happen after the mid-year Showcase," Jekyll replied. "Speaking of Showcase, I reckon you'll join, huh?"
Tumango ako. "Isa talaga sa mga pangarap ko ang mapa-sali sa Showcase dito sa Melpomene!" masigla kong sagot. "Alam ko na wala pang announcement tungkol sa casting pero gagawin ko lahat ng makakaya ko para lang maka-audition!"
"You've got to respect her determination," Victor said, taking the last bite off his burger. Jekyll nodded and said, "Gaya ng sinabi ko noong unang beses ko siya nakita, she got some 'spunk.' I wonder if she has what it takes to oust Goddess."
My wish is for Goddess Del Valle to not be the leading lady for this year's Showcase. my voice reverberated inside my head. Hanggang ngayon 'di pa rin ako sigurado kung totoo ba si Aschenputtel o guni-guni ko lang gawa ng amoy ng pintura na dumikit sa ilong ko noong araw na 'yon.
