ELENA OPENED THE DOOR, BEING GREETED BY CHARLIE. she gave him a smile and let him and bella in. they had agreed to have a "family day" for both young girls missed their parents as they were both always at work.

charlie walked into the kitchen where adriana was making her famous tacos, and put the cheesecake on the table, greeting the woman. bella and elena plopped down onto the couch, both of them in their comfortable clothes.

"sooooo tell me, how are you and eddy boy," elena was quickly shushed by bella, who nodded her head in the direction of the kitchen.

the black haired girl smirked, "oh so charlie doesn't know?" bella shook her slightly blushing.

"charlie doesn't know what?" the middle aged man said, handing a plate to bella. adriana handed one to elena, who laughed at charlie's question.

"uh just that i got a bad grade on the biology test," bella said the first lie that popped in her head. charlie shook his head and took a bite into the taco.

he hummed, "wow this is delicious," adriana thanked him and took a bite into her own taco. they all sat comfortably on the couch, their attention on the screen that played a movie.

the small family felt happy, they enjoyed each others presence. adriana was happy with the man seated next to her, they weren't going to fast nor too slow. charlie shared the same feelings, he was only worried what his daughter would think. elena was ecstatic that her mother finally found happiness. she knew her mom didn't blame her for her biological father leaving, but she knew she felt lonely. plus she always wanted a sister. bella didn't know what to feel, she knew her dad was happy which she was so happy about, and she loved adriana and elena.

"that was sad!" elena wiper her face with the black sleeve of her sweatshirt. it was no secret that the young girl loved animals, so watching a movie about dogs dying over and over again probably wasn't a good idea.

she clapped her hands, "okay board game time," she sniffled and got up, heading towards the hall closet. she picked out a few different one and headed back to the living room, her mom cleaning up the plates.

"omg elena stop crying," her mom laughs, everyone else joining in. elena tries to laugh but instead a sob comes out of her mouth.

"i'm trying it's just so sad," she hiccups, she took a couple breaths and set the games down. she wiped her her eyes with the back of her hands and let out a shaky breath, "okay uh what are we starting with,"

"uno," charlie grabs the box with the colorful packaging and start to take the cards out, "i am thee master at this game,"

elena narrows her eyes at the older man infront of her, "uh i beg to differ,"

"oh yeah wanna test that? i'm the best, right bella," he turns his attention to the brunette,

bella shrugged her shoulders, "i dont know dad elena is really competitive,"

"wow you get my own kid against me? lets do this then," he shuffles the cards and gives each person their seven cards.

elena smirks at her deck, "bring it old man," bella and adriana laughed at their childish banter.

the family played several games of uno, which elena won most of, before moving on to monopoly and then to candy land and to plenty other games. they all felt happiness inside of them. they felt like a family. and for once in a long time , elena's mind wasn't occupied by golden eyes or a night that ended badly.
