ELENA WAS NOW ON HER FRONT LAWN. her driveway was empty, adriana being at work like usual. the sky was getting darker, the mortal teen feeling scared. she felt the tension and hurry in jasper.
"lock your doors and windows, keep the lights off if possible," he stares at her holding her hands in his, "if they come looking for you theyll think youre with us since you have no scent. i have to go help my family deal with is. do call me if absolutely anything is wrong. itll all be okay sweetheart."
elena only nods and hugs him as if it was the last time seeing him, "please be safe."
she walks towards her door, afraid to turn back. she was really afraid. afraid for herself, and her friends.
quickly she locks her door behind her and turns on her phone flashlight to navigate herself through the dark house. she locks every door and window in the house as quickly as she can.
she runs upstairs to grab her phone charger and earphones and locks herself in her bathroom with a nightlight. she sits on the floor, plugging her earphones in to attempt to calm herself with music.
her body shook with fear, a knot in her stomach so big she had to contain herself from gagging.
her friend was being hunted by a maniac vampire. what is her life.

she sent a quick text to bella.
'im safe. heading towards arizona with edward and the other cullens. rosalie and esme are protecting charlie. if he asks what happened tell him edward and i got into a fight and thats all you know. keep him safe for me please."

elena felt the tiniest bit of relief overtake her body followed by stress.

elena sat on the bathroom floor for hours afraid to move until she heard the lock on her front door turn.
she froze, holding her breath.
she heard the thumping coming up the stairs and close to the bathroom door, the person on the other side attempting to open the door.
"elena, are you in there?" she heard her mom's voice. she finally let herself breath and turned on the bathroom light before opening the door and hugging her mom tightly, "woahh whats wrong mija?"
"nothing, i cant hug my mom?" she tries to joke around.
adriana chuckles then sighs, "have you heard from bella?"
elena almost replied before remembering she had to lie.
"uhm not since the baseball game, we parted ways after. why?" she asked leaning on the doorway.
"charlie called me," her mom looked stressed, "said she got home, packed and left to arizona. she said some mean things to him, any idea what happened?"
elena felt bad lying but she knew it was for everyone's safety, "oh im sorry, no i dont know what happened. is charlie okay?"
adriana walked towards her room with elena following behind, "i mean as good as he can be. is it okay if he spends the night? you know, so he isnt alone."
"of course." elena replies.
she leaves her mom to change and shower, going back to her room.

elena sends jasper a quick message hoping for a response soon. she closes her door and changes into some pjs before going downstairs to be with her mom, too afraid to leave her alone.
she sat on the couch turning on a movie, not paying much attention to it. checking her phone, seeing the delivered text on her message to jasper.
a knock on the door was heard making her jump.
"its only charlie, are you okay honey?" her mom opens the door letting the sad man in.
"yeah sorry just a bit tired," she lies through her teeth, "hey charlie man." she sends him a sad smile.
"hey," he sat next to her, "you have any idea what happened? what made her leave?" he looked down at his hands.
damnit bella.
"no im sorry, all i know is she got into a fight with edward." she felt so guilty.
charlie only sighed, putting his head in his hands. adriana rubbed his back trying to comfort the man. the young girl couldnt even look at them, knowing the truth.
"ill be in my room if you guys need me." she quickly says running up the stairs.
she almost made it before charlie calls out to her, "hey lenny, let me know if she reaches out yeah?"
"of course," she gives him a small smile.
she reaches her room, closing the door with a sigh. she was feeling so much, she only wished jasper was here to take it away. she checked her phone once more, the text still reading delivered.
cmon jasp, answer please.
she got into bed, turning on her tv and putting it on a random show. she let her mind run wild until her body gave into sleep.

"elena wake up, we have to go to arizona." adriana shook her awake.
"mom?" she opened her eyes, "arizona for what?"
bella. jasper. vampire.
"oh." she got out of bed following her mom out into charlie's sheriff car.
the drive was silent. not even the radio playing. elena watched her mom hold the stressed man's hand in attempt to calm him. she wished jasper was with her.
remembering the text message she sent earlier, she checked her phone.
"im okay"

she sighed on relief and stared out the window, the sky still being dark.
