Chapter Nine

The party was the best that Ella had ever had in her life. She enjoyed herself to the fullest.
She couldn't forget that kiss Robert gave to her.
So...so

"Hello ma'am." Uche knocked her out of her thoughts.

"Yes, Uche."

"Mr Robert, he's here to see you."

"Oh, let him in." She said and arranged her clothing.

Robert walked in head first.

"Robby." She called.

"Hello my little elf. How're you doing?" He smiled, teasing her.

"I am fine." She said and laughed.

"So, we going out now?" He asked.

"Yeah, let me get my stuff." She said and turned gathering her things.
"Let's go."

They went to a restaurant and placed their order.

"Do you like crabs?" Robert asked her.

"No." She said and chuckled.

"I don't either. Just wanted to see your reaction." He said and smirked.

"Funny Robin." She said and laughed.

The waiter brought in their food and they began to eat, looking at each other after each bite.

Then they heard arguing voices. They both turned towards the direction. It was a guy and his babe.

"I said I can't marry you." The girl said calmly.

"After all the money wey I spend, you dey craze." The guy replied.

"Is it by force to get married? I no wan marry you. I don't want to." The girl said again.

Before anyone knew it, the guy had given the girl a slap sending her to the floor.

"Oh my God." Ella gasped and Robert shook his head.

He began to hit her, right in front of people. This dude had no shame.

Ella closed her eyes. It was like a flash back.
She could hear the lashes of the belt, she could feel it on her.
She could see herself being flogged. It felt like yesterday.

"El, you sure you can stay here?" Robert said, holding her hand.

"I..." She muttered. "I don't feel....so good."

"We'll leave." He said and paid the bill.

She closed her eyes again, she heard thrashing and crashing of things. She couldn't bear it.

"El." Robert called, holding her.

She gave a muffled cry and passed out in his arms.

"Ella." He cried out and held her properly. "Wake up."

"She's not fine. She's been going through a lot of trauma." The doctor in charge said.

"Trauma? I don't understand." Robert replied.

"She's not doing well. She has been having recent flash backs of something that has happened in the past. She'd have to tell you herself."

"Thanks Doc. I appreciate." Robert said shaking hands with him.

What's Ella hiding from me? He thought and stared at her.

Ella stirred as Robert stopped the engine. They had just gotten to Ella's house.

"What happened?" She moaned in pain.

"You need rest El. You're not going to work for at least a few days. "

"What? You can't say that Robert." Ella muttered.

"You need to tell me what's bothering you El." He said. "You need to let it out. I am here for you."

"There's nothing to let you know about me Robert. I don't understand you." She looked and opened the door.

Robert came out of the car and led Ella into the house. He knew Ella as a strong headed woman. She wouldn't open up.
He made her strong coffee and added milk and sugar. She was drinking while he watched her.

"Ella Coker, has someone molested you before?" Robert asked and Ella stopped dead.

"Wha...what do you mean?" Ella muttered.

"Have you been maltreated in anyway?" He asked again.

"N...no, no. Why'd you ask?"

"After what you saw today in the restaurant, you looked disturbed. Open up to me El."

"Nothing is wrong Robert." Ella said and stood up from the chair and walked past him.

"Ella." He called and pinned her to the wall beside them. "Tell me what's wrong."

I can't, she thought. Not now, not like this.

"I don't know." She replied and looked into his eyes.

She pulled him closer and kissed him.
His lips were warm against hers and soft. Robert felt her tremble. She felt so cold, her lips soft against his.
She put her arms around him and he carried her, climbing up the stairs to her room.

She felt his tongue thrust into her lips, licking and kissing. She moaned, caressing his head. Robert put her on the bed and they continued with their kiss with Ella unbuttoning Robert's clothes.

"No." Robert said.

"What?" Ella asked. Her voice heavy.

"Not like this, Ella. Not this way." He said and walked out. Ella was speechless. The tears flowed freely.

I can't tell him, I just can't, she thought and placed her hands on her head.
