Ella went to work the next day. Her staff were obviously gossiping this time. There was a lot of chattering in the office.
"What the hell is going on here?" Ella shouted.
Everyone immediately went to their places.
"Gossips." She muttered and walked away.
She stopped halfway to her office when she saw a newspaper.
It read:
"Ella Coker attends Robert Williams party. Coker and Williams have a connection."
"Oh my God." Ella said and hit her forehead. "When will these press let me be?"
She stomped into her office.
"Ma'am." Uche called and went in with her.
"I am going to sue that press. Get me the name." She said angrily to Uche.
"Ma'am, there's a message from Mr Williams."
"Message?"
"Yes." Uche said and brought out a bouquet of flowers, with a note inside.
Ella sighed. She opened the note and decided to read.
Hello Ella. This is a token of appreciation for attending my party yesterday
Love
Robert.
Ella sighed and squeezed the note.
"Who did he send?"
"A mail man ma'am." Uche said, frightened.
Ella picked her phone and dialed his number. It rang for a while and it connected.
"Hello Ella."
"Mr Williams, I don't like the fact that you sent flowers to my office. As a token of your appreciation?"
"I...."
"Excuse me Mr Williams, my office is my work place and my business. You shouldn't do irrelevant stuff as these here. Thank you for the flowers. But don't bother doing such again." She said and ended the call.
"Ma'am." Uche called. "Don't you think that was rather harsh?"
"Don't tell me what it was. I don't care. Out."
"Yes ma'am." Uche said and walked out.
She hated when men gave her flowers. That angered her. Making her remember the past.
