It was freezing in the Mindscape. Janus hugged himself tightly to hopefully block out some of the chill, but to no avail. Somehow, and not even the twins knew how, the power had gone out. In the Mind Palace. In a figment of Thomas's Imagination. It made absolutely no sense. But there they were, in the Mindscape, with the power out, in the middle of a cold night, and now Janus couldn't even use his heated blanket to warm himself since it had to be plugged in.
Another shiver racked through the deceitful side as the black-and-yellow themed room dropped another few degrees. Screw this, he thought, and decided to sink down into the -hopefully- less freezing Light Commons This would usually be out of the question, but seeing as they all- well, most of them trusted him to some degree it would be fine. It wasn't that much warmer, Janus decided when he had a chance to feel the climate in the new setting, but it would have to do.
He had just decided to try to sleep on the couch that night when a certain prince-like character sauntered into the room, wearing his Christmas sweater and a pair of sweats instead of his usual attire. "Ah, Janus! I didn't see you there," Roman exclaimed as Janus sat up on the couch groggily. The cold was getting to the half-reptilian side, seeping into his limbs.
Janus didn't think to ask what the Creative side was doing up at this time, and instead just flopped back onto the couch, not having the energy to respond. He curled up more and shoved himself between the cushions.
When Roman saw Deceit- Janus, he kept having to remind himself- flop onto the couch, he knew something was up. He walked up to the deceitful side and, upon seeing him shiver and unsuccessfully try to warm up, decided that he could put aside their rivalry and attempt to warm up his adversary.
Roman sat on the couch near Janus's head and started running his fingers through the other's hair. When he received no response- Janus usually flinched away when someone touched him- it dawned upon him that the reason for the snake's sluggish spirit may be because of the chilliness in the Mindscape on this fine winter night. Perhaps a hug would help, Roman thought as he pulled the other into his lap, and upon feeling a weak hug in return from the deceitful side, he decided it was the right decision.
A dip in the sofa made Janus want to look up to see what had happened, but he was too sleepy. Then fingers running through his hair. He discerned that it was Patton; warm and gentle, and Patton seemed the most likely to even sit near Janus, let alone trust him. Of course there was Logan, but the fool stayed up all night working and skipped dinner most nights. He doubted that Logic had enough logic to practice some self-care once in a while. Janus would put it on his mental to-do-list when he wasn't on the verge of falling asleep.
Warm arms wrapped around Janus, and he tried to hug back- to absorb as much heat as possible, of course- before falling into a peaceful darkness.
The next day, Roman woke up to see Janus sprawled across his lap. Seeing that they were both on the couch, the princely side remembered what had occurred last night. He almost slipped away from his "enemy's" grasp, then felt the deceitful trait shift to a more comfortable position, and with an 'aw' face he looked at Janus. He looked so peaceful. Roman decided it wouldn't hurt to stay a few more minutes.
