TWs: Angst, argument, swearing

"Sure, because it's totally not like you just up and left!" Janus all but screamed at the anxious side. Virgil shrunk back before standing up straight and retorting,

"Well at least I had the brain to leave!" His eyes were watering at this point, and they were both well past the point of talking it out peacefully. And no, it didn't stop there. "I left because of you! It doesn't seem like you know that! You're what I was running from, trying to escape, and you just keep following me!"

This stopped the usually suave side in his tracks. Of course Virgil would run. Of course he would run from him. He was Deceit. A liar. A manipulator. Someone who used people for his own selfish gain. That was what Virgil thought of him, he reminded himself, wiping his own tears from his red-stained face. "Right, wanting to be accepting is the same exact thing as following you- for what?! To annoy you? To scare you?" Janus was on a roll now. "Just understand already! I care about you too much to do those things! You abandoned me; you left me with Remus, and Apathy, and Insanity. I do fucking blame you! We were all-" he took a shuddery breath, and forced himself to tell the truth and keep his voice even, "We were all horrible. To you, to each other. Hell, to Thomas, even! But I... I care about you."

Virgil opened his mouth to respond, then closed it, and stepped back. He didn't need to say the words that were displayed in his eyes. You care..?

Janus's POV:

You care..? Janus saw the puzzlement in Virgil's eyes, and immediately felt a pang of guilt in his gut. The devious side tried to say something, anything to break the silence, but his voice died in his throat. He turned to exit the room, sure that he'd messed up in some way, but froze when he felt a cold hand grab his own ungloved hand.

"Sorry... c-can you stay?" Virgil muttered and pulled his hand back from Janus's, shying away. Janus needed not say anything, and only nodded. The liar wrapped his arms around the anxious trait, and upon feeling the other lean into the hug, he released his other four arms and hugged Virgil with those as well. They stayed like that for a while. Eventually Janus pulled away, not wanting to make Virgil uncomfortable. "I'm sorry..." Virgil's words were almost inaudible as he whispered them.

"Sorry?"

"For... everything, I guess." Virgil hesitated. "Leaving, for one."

Janus feels another gut-wrenching pang of guiltiness. "You don't... you don't have to apologize for doing what you thought was best for you," the deceitful side said, choosing his words carefully. Virgil frowned, but accepted the answer nonetheless. Janus had to stop himself from going in for another hug and instead asked, "Do you need anything? Some water, perhaps?" The anxious side nodded and Janus left, soon to be back with a half-full glass of water with two ice cubes. The two knew practically everything about each other from the early years of Virgil's existence, and nogalstia came flooding back to both of them as they sat on Virgil's bed and talked.

Despite having had an argument just an hour ago, both of them were in a rather pleasant mood when they emerged from Virgil's room for dinner.

Take it easy guys gals and non-binary pals, see you next time! :D
