Chapter 13; Lust or love

The note: My dear Y/n

Everything you had is now MINE! 

Don't try anything - I'm warning you!

I felt fear running through my blood and taking over my whole body. And the moment you let your fears overcome you - you became prey. I'd always remember the moment when my doubts and fears turned into reality. When those feelings of hopelessness and fear get under your skin - they stay with you forever. Unless you learn how to get rid of them. I couldn't allow my fear of the past to keep me trapped, so I used it to push me forward and wake me up instead. ''My doubts turned out to be true...'' I said. ''Y/n, I can't possibly imagine how you feel...'' Jimin said.. ''We'll be here for you whatever happens.'' Hoseok said.  ''Whoever wrote this message clearly wanted to scare me. They succeeded...'' I said.  ''Fear is a powerful weapon, but you can break free from it, Y/n'' Jimin said. Jimin was right. Fear from the unknown was my biggest enemy, but it wasn't invincible. ''What do you think, Y/n? Was this message written by a man or a woman?'' Hoseok asked. ''I have to admit, it would never occur me that a woman could leave a message like this but, everything is possible.'' I said. ''When I think about it, it could,ve been a woman, just as well. Some of them are ready to do anything just to achieve their goal... Whatever it may be.'' Jimin said. ''Hmmm... I know a lot of woman who address one another as 'my dear'.'' Hoseok said looking at me. ''That's true...'' Jimin said. ''I don't know.... There's so much I don't know...'' I said. ''We'll find out the truth one step at the time, don't worry. But it's important to be careful.'' Hoseok said. ''What are you saying, Hoseok?'' Jimin asked Hoseok curious. ''We have to think about who's supposed to know about Y/n and her location.'' Hoseok explained. ''I agree with you, Hoseok. The less people are involved, the better.'' I said. ''You're giving up on the idea to tell the police what happened to you?!'' Jimin asked shocked. ''No, we just need to be careful.... We don't have to mention the message.'' I said. ''Fine, we'll all be careful. Just don't ask me to hide something from Jane. I'm not good at that.'' Jimin said. ''Ha! Thank you for making me laugh, Jimin!'' I laughed. ''Is this a bit too much for you, Jimin? If you can't handle such responsibility. I'm ready to take Y/n under my wing.'' Hoseok said looking at Jimin with a smirk. ''Hoseok, I don't wanna fight with you about that. Jane's happy that Y/n's staying with us.'' Jimin said. ''And are you happy, Jimin?'' I asked looking at him. Jimin was surprised by my question but he quickly pulled himself together and answered my question in a way which made my heart tremble. ''Yes, Y/n. I consider myself a very happy man.'' Jimin said. I must've been so lucky to meet such great people. Did I deserve all this? Feeling this presence was unnecessary, Hoseok stepped away from us. And looked at the distribution box once more. He closed it, took his backpack and silently said. ''I'll fix it... And then we'll see what we're gonna do next.'' Hoseok said. ''Did you say something about fixing it?! How are you gonna do that?''  Jimin asked Hoseok not believing him. ''It's simple - I'll replace the fuses.'' Hoseok said. ''Just that?! Are you sure? If somebody wanted to keep me isolated. They wouldn't take just the fuses.'' I asked. ''We'll see... It's possible we won't get the signal even after we replace fuses.'' Hoseok said. ''I'm worried about what will happen after that.'' Jimin said. ''We'll think about that later. Come on, we've been here for too long. It's time for us to return to the village.'' Hoseok said. ''Let's go.... Jungkook will get scared if you don't come back before dark.'' I said although the path to the village was going downhill, it seemed extremely long. We came back to the village long after dark. 

I opened the front door and entered the cabin. I felt the warmth from the fireplace hugging me and giving me the feeling of safety. Jungkook was sleeping in Jimin's chair curled up and covered with a blanket. I looked at Hoseok and saw a mild smile on his face. It wasn't easy for him to leave Jungkook alone, but he did it anyway so that he could help me. I was both ashamed and flattered by his actions. ''He's sleeping... I bet he's dreaming about running.'' Hoseok said. ''He's a good boy. I'm sorry you had to leave him because of me.." I said looking at Hoseok. ''I Wouldn't have left him if I hadn't known that Jane would bring him here. I have to thank her.'' Hoseok said. ''Shhh you'll wake him up. Anyway, we're all tired and we desperately need to get some sleep.'' Jimin said. ''Wait, Jimin... Jane has the right to know...'' I said. ''Where the heck have you been? What is it Jane has to know?'' Jane said mad out of nowhere. ''Jane, Hoseok should tell you where we were, 'cause it was all his idea anyway.'' I said. ''Hoseok! I'd never think you'd do such an irresponsible thing! You left Jungkook alone, didn't say a word about where you were going and took these two here with you!'' Jane said angry. ''They wanted to come with me. I didn't force them to do anything.'' Hoseok said innocence. ''That's true.... Hoseok's not the only one to blame.'' I said looking down. ''I'm sorry we were away for so long.'' Hoseok apologized. ''You should apologize to Jungkook, not to me...'' Jane said. ''Forgive us, Jane.... Sit down, we'll tell you everything.'' Jimin said looking at Jane. ''I'll make some tea.'' I said. Jimin hugged his little sister in order to cheer her up, which proved to be a very good move. Jane just playfully hit him on his shoulder and sat on the sofa. Hoseok gently took Jungkook in his arms and took him to Jane's bedroom. ''Ok... Let me hear, What did you find out?'' Jane asked. ''Actually, now I have even more questions than before... Look what we found.'' I said and I gave her the message and waited for her reaction. She carefully took the note from me and read the message out loud...'' 'My dear...' what's this?'' Jane asked and the three of us talked in turns and gave all the information we had. She was patiently listening to us, then she looked at the message again. ''Y'n, what are you gonna do about this message?'' Jane asked looking at me. ''Nothing... Nothing at all.'' I said. ''This proves that somebody's after you. I knew it!'' Jane said. '' I'll keep the message and show it to the police when we get the opportunity to do so....'' Hoseok said. ''We all know what the next logical step is. First of all, Y/n can't be left alone 'cause er persecutor might still be in the woods.'' Jimin said kinda worried. ''Oh, no! He could've been following her this whole time  without our knowledge'' Jane said. ''I'll replace the fuses in the antenna. And I'll try to fix the phone lines and the internet after that, we'll know what to do.'' Hoseok said. ''Everything would've been much easier if I hadn't lost my memory... You wouldn't have been troubled by a my problems, and my persecutor would've been behind bars.'' I said. ''Y/n, maybe it's just the matter of days before you remember everything. You have to trust yourself.'' Hoseok talked about amnesia as a temporary state, but he avoided talking about how long such state could last. And I was becoming more and more anxious... ''I trust myself the least...'' I said. ''Don't be like that, Y/n.'' Jimin said. ''You say you don't trust yourself... Then it's right time to suggest something I've been thinking about these days, Y/n. Would you like to try hypnosis?'' Hoseok said. ''What are the consequences of hypnosis?'' I asked Hoseok. ''For you none.'' Hoseok said. ''I think that hypnosis is a great idea.'' Jane said. ''It's worth a try... But not tonight. I believe you are tired just as much as I am.'' Jimin said. ''Yeah, this has been a long day.'' Y/n said. ''Hoseok, you and Jungkook should sleep over. I'm sure you're too tired to go home in the middle of night.'' Jane said. ''Fine, thank you for everything, Jane.'' Hoseok said we wished one another good night even thought we knew that none of us would sleep peacefully that night.
