Chapter 42; Now or never

I didn't knock. I just smiled and opened the door to Noah's office wide. I saw her cleaning the desk and destroying documents. She was getting ready to run away and wanted to destroy all the leads. "Oh what an honor! I was wondering when you'd show up. And here you are. You look so much better, Y/n. You really needed that vacation." Noah said sarcastic. "Thank you so much, Noah. And what about you? Are you getting ready to go on a vacation? I see you're cleaning after yourself." I said with a eyebrow raised. "That's none of your concerns. Give up already, Y/n, You're ridiculous. What do you want from me now?" Noah asked annoyed.

"I want your confession!" I yelled mad and I played the video where we could see Noah giving the gun to Jin. I watched her reaction carefully. She was watching the video when I noticed she was clenching her fist. I knew she was trying her best to appear cold and distant. However, I could feel how upster she was.

"See... You look so fragile here.... Who would have thought? What did you ask Jin? To kill me?! Your sister!" I yelled mad. "I... Where did you get this?" Noah asked shocked. "That's not important now, Noah! You ordered someone to murder me! You'll spend a long time in prison! Oh, yeah... One more thing..." I said and I started reading the document in the folder and saw Noah's face turning pale. She jumped over the desk and tried to take the folder and my phone from my hands, but I was faster.

At that point I started having fun. "Y/n... give me that!" She yelled. "I'm not crazy! I'll use this to give your long-awaited vacation." I said with a bitch face. "Listen to me! You don't understand.... Jin tried to talk me into this... I never wanted all this to happen, but then one thing led to another... He blackmailed me, and then I blackmailed him, and somewhere in between we lost sight of what was right and important...." Noah said sad. "It's too late now, Noah! You can't buy love and trust. That's a lesson you should've learned a lont time ago." I said mad and stern. 

I took my phone 'cause I wanted to call the police when I saw an unkown number calling me. "Who's there?" I asked when I picked up. "Good afternoon, Y/n. Someone wants to talk to you." The person said and I could hear some unpleasant noise, and then I recognized Jungkook's voice. He was crying... "Jungkook! What's going on?" I asked. "Y/n, it's time for you to make the next move!" The person said. "It's you... Jin!" I said mad. "Do you want Jane and Jungkook to live? Then you'll leave Noah alone and give me all the evidence you have against me and her. I'm waiting, Y/n." Jin said laughing. "Noooo! Leave Jungkook and Jane alone!" I yelled and he hung up and left me completely shocked. 

Noah and I looked like each other even more at that moment. We looked like life was snucked out of us.  By all odds, Noah had no idea where Jin was and that the situation was out of her control.

Our future is always unpredictable. Even if we can influence it somehow, it's a road we have to go through anyway. It's one thing to look back and realize you were in the dark, but quite another to look foward and know that your days can be even darker.

"Y/n, you have to trust me! Please! I had no idea what Jin was planning!" Noah said sad. "You had no idea?! Then try to make me believe that, 'cause I don't buy it at all!" I yelled mad at her. "I don't blame you, Y/n. but I'd never hurt Jane and Jungkook and I wouldn't ask Jin to do it either! I don't know what's gotten into him... He was angry with me 'cause I didn't wanna play his rules anymore." Noah explained. "Oh now you don't wanna play by his rules! Either you destroyed our father's company! After you almost killed me and pushed us all in bankruptcy!" I said angry. "I realize it now, Y/n. I realize to what extent I let my wrath grow. Jin took advantage of that. I was just a stupid girl in love and I was tricked again...." Noah said mad. "You bring misfortune wherever you go!" I yelled.

I was insulted by Noah's apology and her begging for forgiveness. Maybe she was really deceived by a man's charm. It wouldn't have been the first time... But I didn't care anymore... She tried to touch me, but I pushed her away. Then Noah backed up... "Don't call the police, please! At least let me call Jin and talk some sense into him." Noah begged. "No way I'm gonna let you do that, Noah. You'll warn Jin so that he can run away. Give me your phone." I said stern. "Fine, Y/n.... Here you are." I was surprised by how easily Noah surrendered. I expected she'd attack me or yell at me, but she just sunk into the armchair and started sobbing. 

Taehyung barged into the office at the moment. He was trying to catch his breath. He was watching what as going on in Noah's office through the surveillance cameras in the security room. He noticed the situation was getting out of the hand and he had to do something.

"Y/n! I'm here, what happened?" Taehyung asked looking at both of us. "Look for yourself..." I said annoyed. "Is Noah crying?! Ha! She's such a good actress!" Taehyung said annoyed. "That's not true..." Noah said and she looked at Taehyung with her eyes filled with tears and that was enough for him to become worried. As the adrenaline wore off, I started trembeling uncontrollably. Fear was overwhelming. "Taehyung! We have to go right now!" I said. "Wait, we have to wait for the police!" Taehyung said. "You called the police!?" Noah asked shocked. "I'm calling them right now! I had to check if Y/n was fine first." Taehyung said. "Taehyung I'm fine... Or rather, I'll be fine when I'm sure Jane and Jungkook are safe." I said to calm him down. "Hoseok is looking after them right?" Taehyung asked. 

I told him what Jin said over the phone and how he threatened us. "I don't know... If I report to the police, it might make Jin furious. What if he takes Jane and Jungkook somewhere? We have to make him think we're playing his rules." I explained. "I will fo with you!" Noah said. "Oh you will, Noah, but only 'cause I wanna keep an eye on you. One wrong move and you'll spend the rest of your life in jail!" Taehyung warned. "I'll call Hoseok. He's our only hope now..." I said.

Hoseoks phone was ringing with no answer until the operator told me the customer wasn't available at the moment. The recption in the mountain village was usually poor in winter. I kept on trying to reach Hoseok, but with no success. We ran out of thw company building without hesitating Noah was right behind us.
