Chapter 6; Road to nowhere

The boy went behind the store corner and got lost in the crowd. ''Huh the kid is fast!'' I said out of breathe. ''I could've caught up with him, but I didn't want to scare him.'' Jimin said. ''Whatever you two think you're doing - leave it for some other time! This makes no sense'' Jane said mad. ''Oops Jane I'm sorry. Let me help you with thosse grocery bags'' I said looking at her. ''Thanks, Y/n.'' Jane said smiling. ''Jane, Why don't you and Y/n go home? I'll join you for dinner later.'' Jimin said. ''Tonight? Why, are you going somewhere?'' I asked Jimin. ''I have some things to do which I completely forgot about, I'm sorry.'' Jimin said. ''Y/n you have to explain to me what's going on here.'' Jane said looking at me. ''Jimin thought that a boy stole something and that he's running away with it.'' I explained to Jane. ''Ohw no Jimin! Stop playing a cop!'' Jane yelled at Jimin. Jimin didn't pay attention to what Jane was saying cause he noticed something else. ''I see him!'' Jimin yelled. ''The boy where!?'' I asked. ''Jimin gave me and Jane a sign to hide so that the boy won't see us. ''psst.'' jImin  made a sound.  It was then when I noticed him in the crowd, proud and serious. Walking with his head high and approaching the boy. ''Is that Hoseok?'' I asked. ''In the flesh.'' Jimin said. ''we have to say hello to him!'' Jane said happy. ''Wait I wanna see why he approached the boy.'' Jimin stopped Jane. ''You keep playing detectives but I have tot think about making lunch. Jane angrily picked up the grocery bags from the ground and went to the square. ''Hoseok knows everybody in the village. There's nothing weird about it.'' I said. The boy proudly took of his backpack and pulled a female purse out of it. Hoseok held it in his hand and smiled until the boy raised his hand and pointed his finger toward Jimin and me. 

They saw us and we had two choices, either to face Hoseok or retreat. Seeing that Hoseok was no longer smiling the boy took his backpack and disappeared in the crowd. At the same time, Hoseok quickly hid the purse under his coat and headed towards us. ''Jimin maybe we saw something we shouldn't have seen. I don't like how Hoseok is looking at us.'' I said. ''Me neither, but what's done is done. He saw us, it's no use running.'' Jimin said looking at Hoseok for a bit and then at me again. ''I know.. We'll wait for him to come to us.'' I said a bit afraid. ''That's the best thing to do.'' Jimin said comforting me. ''I don't want him to think that we followed  him here.'' Jimin said. 

Hoseok waved at the boy and then stood up. Put the purse in pocket and tightened his lapel. He was decisively approaching us and when he was just a couple of steps away - he respectfully bowed to us. ''Hello Y/n, I'm glad that you feel better and that you took my advice about taking a walk.'' Hoseok said looking at me. ''Hello doctor.'' I said. ''Hello... Hoseok how come you're not in the office at this time? '' Jimin asked Hoseok. ''I was visiting some patients. Injuries are very common now that the roads are frozen.'' Hoseok said. ''It seems that the boy with who we just saw you likes to run and doesn't pay any attention to ice on the road.'' I said kinda angry. ''I told him several times to be careful, but there's no use.'' Hoseok said with a sign. ''He'll understand when he gets hurt.'' Jimin said. ''You'll be surprised how nimble that boy is. I've never seen a more skillfull child than him.'' Hoseok said proud. ''Yeah.. He almost knocked me down!'' I said. ''Were you hurt?'' Hoseok asked. ''No but it was close.'' I answered. ''Luckily I was there to help her...'' Jimin said still pissed about what happened.  

''I see, Y/n your blood results came. Hoseok said. ''I hope that you have something good to tell me, for a change.'' I said kinda scared but at the same time curious. ''I have so much to tell you, Y/n. But I have to take care of your state of mind too.'' Hoseok said looking at me. ''Y/n is fine, so don't play with her feelings. She has a right to know everything!'' Jimin said stern. ''I agree with Jimin... Can we got to your office right now and talk about this?'' I asked Hoseok. ''Of course, Y/n. I was hoping you'd say that.'' Hoseok said and he stroked my hair and gave me a warm smile. That gave me hope that the news wasn't that bad after all. 

Hoseok unlocked the door to his office and let me and Jimin inside. Although the office was small, the space was nicely used. There was a place for Hoseok's desk, a medice cabinet and a separate place for examining patients. ''You're probably very proud of this office, doctor! Everything is so tidy!'' I said amazed by the office. ''Please Malou call me Hoseok. I wouldn't say that I'm proud of it, I just like everything in it's own place.'' Hoseok said. I came to his desk and noticed that there was no family photo on it. ''Sit both of you we don't have to talk standing like this.'' Hoseok said with a smile. ''Thank you...'' Jimin said. Jimin sat in a chair next to me while Hoseok sat across us at his desk. He sat back in his chair and looked at us expecting that we'd start the conversation. Jimin nudged me with his elbow as a sign that I should start talking. ''Doctor... I mean, Hoseok... Jimin and I would like to talk to you about.. Jimin and Jane are concerned about my health and I'd like to hear your opinion.'' I said looking at both of them. ''Jimin, Jane and you don't have to worry that much. The analyses are complete and Y/n is fine - apart from amnesia.'' Hoseok explained. ''Yeah apart from amnesia...'' I said. ''That's good news!'' Jimin said happy. Hoseok leaned over the table and said in gentle voice... ''Y/n, I'll do everything necessary for you to get your memory back. But I have to be prepared 'cause your memories could be back tomorrow or never.'' Hoseok explained again. ''I know...'' I said kinda sad. ''Of course, doctor... But that's not the only reason we're here, is it?'' Jimin asked Hoseok coinsured. Hoseok sat back in his chair. Closed his eyes and sighed quietly. ''I know you want an explanation for what you saw today.'' Hoseok said looking at both of us again. ''I admit, I'm curious.'' I said. ''I'll tell you everything, Y/n... Although it wasn't my intention to expose you to this so soon..'' Hoseok said looking at me. ''Expose her to what, doctor?'' Jimin said. ''Jimin you know how much I respect you. But this has tp stay between Y/n
and me. I have to respect the patient's right of privacy.'' Hoseok said looking at Jimin. ''Of course. I understand... I'll be waiting for you outside, Y/n.'' Jimin said. ''Thank you, Jimin.'' I said. Jimin slowly went out and closed the door behind him. Once we were alone, Hoseok got up from his chair and took the puse the boy gave him out of the pocket of his coat. It seemed so small in his hands...
