Chapter 38;

Half an hour later...

Everything was going according to plan for a change. Jane did exactly as I'd told her and opened me a way to get to Noah's office. I have to search Noah's office more carefully this time. Time is on my side cause the charity reception still goes on. Jane is at her position and she'll tell me if Noah or Jin leave the reception. I won't get another chance like this.  The safe is still in the same place, but it's obvious no one uses it anymore. It's open and empty. Of course,Noah wouldn't risk losing documents again. 

I was going through files and shelves with documents, but nothing caugt my attention. I took a chair to climb on it so that I could reach the top shelf and I almost stepped on a laptop. Accidentally or on purpose, the laptop was left on the chair. I almost broke it! Who leaves their laptop on a chair?! Let's see what we have here.

I turned the laptop on... The company logo appeared on the screen followed by a sound and message. 

'Welcome back, Noah confirm you identity.'

There were two options for that - a fingerprint or a password. What could Noah's password be? People usually do their birth date as a password. I can try.. I typed the numbers, but that wasn't the correct password. There was a message on the screen: 'You have two more tries.' Bummer... I better ask someone for advice before I ruin this chance I got.

There wasn't much I could do at that moment, but I was still under pressure and felt I hat to do something quickly. The security could find out the cameras were out and show up at the door any second. Taehyung was waiting for me in the car and watched the entrance to the building while Jane was following Noah's every step. 

I should call Taehyung right away and ask him whether he ever used Noah's laptop. I'm aware how much time he used to spend with her in the office. 

"Y/n, how is the investigation going?" Taehyung asked when he picked up. "I'm following the right lead this time, I'm in Noah's office and I need the password for her laptop." I said. "I used to know her password... It was something stupid. But I'll remember it, don't worry. just take the laptop and get out." Taehyung said. "No that way Noah will know I was here!" I said annoyed. "Y/n! Calm down! Y/n, you're my fiancee and I'll do anything for you!" Taehyung said. "I'm listening... You'll help me if you really love me." I said. "I was standing behind her on one occasion while she was typing the password in." Taehyung said. "Think, Taehyung..." I said. "It's not numbers, I'm sure. She'd always spin her writs around before typing the password. Or she would spin a glass..." Taehyung explained. "Wait, I'll look for some kind of note or reminder on her desk." I said. "I'm thinking the password must be connected to the fact she was spinning something every time." Taehyung said. "So that was the way for her to remember the password." I said. "You should also have in mind her revengeful nature." Taehyung said. "Wait! Spinning! That word is the key." I said. "She always used to say 'what goes around comes around." Taehyung said. "That makes sense, Tae! Hold on!" I said.

I put the phone down next to the laptop and typed the password Taehyung suggested. It worked! "Hey! Taehyung I did it!" I said happy. "Huh! Now download whatever you want from it and get away from there." Taehyung said. "I'll be quick. Wait for me!" I said. "I'm not going anywhere without you, babe" Taehyung said.

Logging into Noah's laptop was a small victory for me. It was just the first stp in finding some evidence against her. Just in case, I texted Jane and asked her to tell me what was going on and how much time I had left. She texted me back soon after. 

The quests were slowly leaving the reception and approaching Noah and Jin to say goodbye. I'll call you as soon as the most of the quests leave and when I'm left with no one to hide behind. It said.

I'd say I have less than half an hour if Noah doesn't decide to leave the reception early. Okay, let's see what secrets Noah hides in her laptop. I'll search for my name in the files and check if there's a folder with my data.

The search lasted a couple of minutes. I constantly kept looking at the clock and the door. At one point I thought of taking the laptop with me and running out, but I stuck to my goal somehow. Finally! The search is over! Let's see... There are several videoss with my name in their title. 

I played one of the videos and I realized they were all from security cameras. Their quality wasn't exactly the best, but I recognized myself in them. I have to copy this! I hope I'll have enough time! I had only my phone with me. It could serve as an external memory, but... I didn't have anything to connect it to the laptop. Dammit! I can't believe Noah has nothing I could use to connect the phone and laptop!

I was frantically looking for something useful in Noah's drawers. Lady luck was finally on my side. I found a phone charger and used the cable to connect the phone to the laptop. The transfer of the videos could begin. The status bar showing the percentage was moving slowly, and with every number I was becoming more overwhelmed with panic. My phone rang at the worst possible moment. 

"Uh! Not now Jane! End the call please." I said and Jane gave up calling me and sent me a couple of messages. 

Answer your phone, Y/n! I hope you'll see this on time. Get out of there right now! I'm already outside. we're waiting for you in the car. The messages said "Oh no! Come on.... 95%! I can't stop the transfer now!" I said. The last of the quests left the building... Y/n where the heck are you? Jane texted. 

100%! Huh! I'm out of here! I turned off the laptop and left it where I'd found it. I looked back at the office and Noah's desk, but then I gave up, nothing was in its place anyway. I went through the back door the same way I'd entered the building. Adrenaline was making my heart skip a beat, as if I wanted to break free from the cage in which I was trapped. That night was my night. I did it, I got away with it!
