We walked maybe 10 minutes, the trail had ended and we were in an empty field. "This place is the gift that keeps on giving" he chuckled slightly, Cooper held out his hand, "come on, I know you wanna do it" I bit my lower lip and smiled at him, "Of course I do".
"Isn't your dad gonna get mad?" I asked anxiously, he shook his head, "It's fine, come on" Cooper held out his hand, I gripped it tightly. We ran into the empty field hand and hand, without a care in the world.
I laughed as he spun me around. "You're doing it, wrong dummy, did you not pay any attention to Mrs. Adams?" "You actually did?" I rolled my eyes and playfully hit his shoulder, "You do it like this" I guided his hands onto my lower back and I rested mine on his shoulders.
"Watch my feet," I told him, after a few tries he got it down. We moved in sync, "wait don't move" Cooper said abruptly, I stopped in my tracks, "what, what's wrong?" I asked confused.
"Nothing's wrong it's just your eyes" "what about them?" "they look golden"
As we danced around the empty field like we were 15 again, I got my shoelace caught on something and tripped, Cooper came falling down with me. He was on top of me, we both started laughing "You good?" he asked, "yeah I'm fine"
Cooper went silent for a moment, he was just looking at me, "what?" "Nothing, it's just your eyes," he said slowly, "I don't understand why you're so by them fascinated, they're shit brown" Cooper shook his head, "In normal light, they're like a soft brown color, but directly in the sun they look golden"
I didn't realize that over the years he'd actually taken the time to see how my eyes change depending on the lighting. "You came to this conclusion when?" "years ago" he chuckled a bit, his complexion turned a slightly rosy color.
I looked into Cooper's eyes. They were the color of a clear blue sky in the middle of summer, his eyes told a story. His story. That's what I liked about them so much, it was a gentle color but underneath the surface, there was so much more.
He lowered his face to mine and our lips met, I felt my body heat up as a rush of euphoric warmth came over me. Cooper placed his hand on my waist and pulled me closer, deepening the kiss. As we pulled away I saw his eyes sparkle and lips curve up into a smile and I couldn't help but smile back.
I giggled a bit, Cooper moved and I sat up, "What?" "Nothing" he looked at me and raised his eyebrows "tell me" "I'm gonna sound creepy" "you already look the part" I hit his arm, "I'm kidding, but tell me" "I've just been waiting for that for a while," I said honestly "me too"
