San started to open his eyes and the sound of feet rushing over the floor to the bed was heard by the young male.
"San? Are you awake?" Jongho asked quickly and Hongjoong hit him on the arm.
"For gods sake, give him a minute, Jongho." Hongjoong replied, clearly annoyed with the younger.
San tried sitting up, but Hongjoong placed a hand on his arm and forced him to lay back down.
"San, you just got shot in the abdomen. You can't be sitting up so soon. It isn't good for your body." Hongjoong told him and San let out a sigh.
"What the fuck are you guys doing here? Where's Wooyoung?" San asked as he saw Jongho, along with his aunt and uncle, standing next to his bed.
"Don't speak to us that way! We have been raising you for the past three years!" His aunt scolded him and Hongjoong rolled his eyes at her.
"Oh really? Have you really, though? When was there ever a time that you've genuinely cared about me? Oh yeah, never! You've never cared about me! That's why I've always stayed with Seonghwa!" San retaliated and his aunt scoffed at his words.
"We have done everything for you! We could've easily just left you on the god damn street!" His aunt yelled back and that's when San had lost it.
All of the pressure and stress that had been building up inside of him since he moved in with them had put so much strain on his life and so much weight on his shoulders that he couldn't take it anymore.
"I would've loved that! That would be way better than living with you guys in the first place!" San yelled furiously at them and that's when his uncle walked up to him and slapped him across the face.
San's cheek turned red almost instantly, a stinging pain going along with it. San held his cheek in pain and Hongjoong decided to step up for him.
"Yah! Stop it! Leave him alone!" Hongjoong shouted at them, chaos breaking out in the small hospital room.
A nurse was passing by in the hallway when she heard strange, unusual yelling coming from San's room. She knocked on the door before walking in, witnessing everything that had just happened.
"I'm gonna need you guys to leave." She told San's family and they all rolled their eyes before they walked out, Jongho managing a scoff at the older before he left the room.
"Where's Wooyoung?" San asked Hongjoong, interrupting the silence that had been created in the room.
"He's on his way to a mental hospital. I sent him down to the lobby a few minutes ago. He is waiting for Yunho to pick him up and take him." Hongjoong said and San's eyes widened.
"W-what? Why?" San asked sadly, his voice becoming coarse and his eyes filling with tears.
"He isn't doing so well, San. He really wanted to see you wake up, but he didn't know if he would be alive for much longer..." Hongjoong explained quietly and San let out a small gasp, tears running down his cheeks.
He sat up carefully, holding his abdomen with his left hand as he did so. He then stood up and ripped out his IV.
"San! What're you doing?!" Hongjoong yelled at him, seeing San walk over to the door and open it, starting to run down the hallway.
"SAN!" Hongjoong screamed, running after him.
San refused to listen to him and ran down the hallway to the escalator, stepping onto it. The escalator brought him down to the main floor quickly, San rushing off of it and over to the lobby door.
He threw the door open and stopped in his tracks, looking around for Wooyoung. He saw him walking up to a car, about to get in and leave.
Before Wooyoung could leave, San rushed over to him and wrapped his arms around him.
"Who-"
"Please, don't go." San whispered, clutching onto Wooyoung's white dress shirt.
Wooyoung closed the car door and turned around, only to see San crying in front of him.
"San? Don't cry, Sannie." Wooyoung begged the older, hugging him lightly.
San felt a sharp pain in his abdomen and clutched it, falling to the ground.
"San!" Wooyoung heard Hongjoong say as he tried to help him off of the concrete sidewalk gently.
Hongjoong noticed blood showing through his hospital shirt and started to panic.
"Wooyoung, take his shirt off and press it against his wound. His stitches are starting to break open. Stay here while I go and get the doctor." Hongjoong instructed, Wooyoung immediately following his instructions.
Wooyoung reached for the hem of San's shirt, pulling it off of him. He saw blood trickling down his abdomen and to his pants and quickly helped San lay down on the ground, pressing the shirt against the wound to help stop the bleeding.
"What were you thinking, San?" Wooyoung asked quietly, shaking his head.
"I love you, Wooyoung."
Wooyoung looked up at San in the eyes and saw that he was still crying. He reached up and wiped some tears away from his eyes.
"San, out of all the people in the world, why must you love me? You don't deserve me. You deserve someone better." Wooyoung admitted, starting to shed a few tears himself.
"Don't say that, Woo. I love you for who you are. You are such a kind and loving boy. You're the only one that I want to spend my life with. No one else can make me as happy as I am with you. I don't want you to leave. That's why I ran all the way out here after you. I wanted to see you before you left. I heard about what you said about seeing me wake up before you left. Hongjoong told me everything."
Wooyoung then started to sob, still somehow managing to apply pressure to San's wound.
"I'm so sorry, San. I just can't keep living like this." Wooyoung sobbed and San reached up, running his fingers through Wooyoung's black locks of hair.
"Don't apologize, my love. I just want you to get better. But I wanted to see you one last time before you left in case something were to happen to me." San admitted, tears running down his cheeks.
Hongjoong came racing over to San, a nurse with him. Yunho saw the nurse appear through his window and got out of his car, going to check up on Wooyoung.
"Wooyoung, we have to go. It's time to check you in." Yunho told him, quickly thanking Hongjoong for everything that he had done for them.
The nurse signaled another nurse to come over and help her. They counted to three as they lifted San up and onto the stretcher.
"I love you, Jung Wooyoung." San told the younger, hoping that he felt the same way.
"S-San, I.."
San took a deep breath, waiting for the younger to finish his sentence.
"I don't know. I'm sorry."
Wooyoung replied quickly, getting into the car and heading off to the mental hospital, leaving San completely heartbroken.
