Chapter 17

Mike's POV

He made his way to the hospital. He was visiting Chester once again. He sat down in the chair next to the unconscious boy. He took his cold hand in his own and bowed his head.

"Come on Chazzy," he whispered, "Please wake up. Please wake up."

There wasn't any response and Mike was starting to doubt that he would ever respond. He swallowed and felt the tears make their way into his eyes. This was all his fault in the first place. It was always his fault. He looked down at the peaceful expression on Chester's face. It was so different than all the other ones he'd seen. It wasn't full of pain or hurt. He liked it. He wished he saw it more often when Chester was awake.

"Please Chazzy, please wake up. I can't handle you dying. I can't," he whispered. It was too much for him. And before he knew it, he was pouring his heart out to Chester's unconscious form.

".........you can't leave me Chester. You can't. These past weeks we've spent together have been amazing and I like being around you. You're special and you're sweet and everything about you is perfect. I don't know when I realized this but I love you. I really think I do," Mike said quietly, "You're the only person who has ever made me feel like this. I have this need to protect you and I fucking love everything about you. So you can't leave me."

There still wasn't a response. Mike sighed and gripped Chester's hand tighter. He'd deny the fact that he ever said that. He wasn't really sure where it came from. Maybe it was just desperation to have Chester wake up.

He's confessed his love to Chester while he was unconscious but then he hadn't told him right after Chester woke up. He was still denying the fact that he had. But somehow they'd made it. He smiled slightly as he heard Chester singing quietly in the other room. He was singing Pushing Me Away. Mike was proud of that song. It was one of his favorite ones. Especially when Chester sang it.

Chester's POV

He was walking home with Mike, holding a bloody Kleenex to his nose because of another fight. He'd ended up curled into a ball on the floor as kids' feet pounded into his body. Mike was letting him lean against him as they walked.

"I'm so sorry Chester," Mike said quietly as they walked into his house together. Chester sighed and sat down on the couch. Mike sat down next to him and Chester looked at him before staring down at the bruises forming on his arm from where he'd been hit.

"Why didn't you let me die?" he whispered. Mike stared at him.

          "W-What?"

"Why didn't you let me die? I'd be happier that way," Chester said turning to face Mike who looked like he'd been shot.

          "Chaz...."

"Don't you see? I tried to overdose because of all of this shit! All of this pain would be gone!"
