Chapter 33

Mike’s POV

         

          “And Snickers and M&Ms and Crunches and Hershey’s and Reeses, and Skittles and everything else!” Chester said as he threw things into the shopping cart. Mike raised an eyebrow at him and Chester grinned.

          “Chaz, there aren’t a ton of kids around us. We don’t need that much candy!”

          “But Mikey, I want candy too.”

          “Yea I know. Ok fine get what you want,” Mike gave up. He could never win arguments with Chester. Chester was just too adorable. He smiled as he gave the candy to the cashier to ring up. Chester took his hand and Mike gave it a reassuring squeeze before paying for the Halloween candy. Tonight was Halloween and Chester had made him buy candy even thought they were just hanging with the guys. Even Dave. It would be the first time since the end of tour that they all met up again. Mike had kept the guys away from Chester because he wasn’t sure what he would react to certain things. They walked out to the car together and Mike gave Chester a quick kiss.

          “You ok?”

          Chester nodded but Mike saw something in his eyes. He was worried about something. Something was bothering him. He gently took Chester’s face in his hands and stroked his thumb over his cheeks.

          “Are you sure?”

          “We haven’t seen them in a long time. Mike….does Dave hate me?”

          “No. No Chazzy, he doesn’t hate you.”

          “Ok,” Chester muttered and they drove home quickly. The guys wouldn’t be over for a couple of hours. Mike had bought a costume and he knew that Chester was hiding one from him too. They had decided not to tell each other what they were being. He wondered what Chester had. He hoped it wasn’t something….weird. They pulled up into the house and Chester climbed out of the car with him. They walked up to the door and Mike opened up to their house. He smiled slightly as Chester jumped on his back and made him carry him inside.

          “You’re getting to big for this,” Mike said with a laugh.

          “Mike, honestly, I’ve been too big for this for a long time,” Chester giggled in his ear. Mike smirked and set the bags of candy on the table before letting Chester climb down. He scooped the other man into his arms and kissed him again.

          “You don’t need to worry about tonight. They’re our friends,” Mike said and Chester nodded before hugging him tightly.

          “Ok. I really don’t want to see them,” Chester whispered and Mike felt his heart break. Chester was so insecure around them again. He sat down on the couch with Chester still in his arms.

          “Why not?”

          “Dave doesn’t want me around.”
