Chapter 8

Mike’s POV

“You’re distracted again,” Ryan said glaring at him.

          “I’m not.”

“You are. You just can’t listen to me can you?”

“It was his birthday yesterday! I can’t just ignore that.”

“Mike if you don’t want to work here that’s fine. I just thought you might like this.”

“You need to get off my back!”

          “Then fucking focus Shinoda!”

“I am!!” Mike snarled as he stood up and started to pace the floor. Tak shook his head.

          “You’re not.”

Mike sighed and then slammed the door to the studio. He was in the entrance hall and he leaned back against the wall. He was in love with this man. He could not push him away like they wanted him too. Ryan and Tak didn’t bother coming after him until it was late. Ryan opened the door.

“I’m going to get going,” Tak said, “See you tomorrow.”

Ryan nodded, “Come on Mike, let’s talk a minute.”

Mike sighed but got up off the floor and walked into the room. He knew Ryan was probably going to yell at him but he walked in anyway. He wanted to go back and apologize for what he’d said to Chester a few days ago. It wasn’t his fault. He took a breath and then headed inside after Ryan. The door shut behind him.

Chester’s POV

He sat on the balcony with a cigarette between his lips. He was spending too much time alone. Of course, smoking made him feel a lot better. He considered going after something else. Something stronger but then pulled back. He didn’t want that again. Flashbacks of the pain he’d felt during that time of his life hit him hard and he stood up quickly. He tossed the cigarette out into the backyard after putting it out and then he walked back inside. He tucked the pack of cigarettes and his lighter into the pocket of his jacket. He didn’t need Mike stumbling upon them at some point. But Mike probably wouldn’t even care. He sighed. What he wouldn’t give to have Mike with him again. To have him holding him, touching him, kissing him. He wanted it so badly. He sat down inside and put his head in his hands. He’d felt alone a lot in his life but after finally having someone care about him and then leave him, he felt worse than ever before. He needed to take his mind off of this right now but the memory that came into his mind wasn’t good.

He sat in class at the back like he always did. They were working on the review for their math test and he was already screwed. He sighed and wrote in some random answer for one of the blanks before he switched to the next page. Mike and Rob were sitting in front of him. They were whispering about something and Chester had a feeling it was about him. He tried to focus on his homework but the classroom was starting to get too loud. Mike was facing his desk but then he turned around to face him.
