Chapter 19

Dave's POV

          "Something's not right," Brad muttered as Mike and Chester walked in the room together, "Something happened."

          It was the afternoon before the show so they had some time to themselves. They were all currently hanging out in his and Rob's room in the hotel. Joe was playing videogames because Dave always brought the system from the bus in. They always ended up having a videogame party in his room. But Brad was right, something was off with Chester and Mike. For one thing, they were close. Now, usually that wasn't strange but they were super close. Chester was basically clinging to Mike. Something was up.

          "I see what you mean. Should we say something?" Dave responded quietly. Brad shrugged.

          "I don't know. Maybe Chester just had a nightmare or something. He'll probably relax soon."

          "Maybe....," Dave trailed off as he watched Mike put his arm around Chester and whisper something to him. There was something going on between them. He would be keeping a close eye on them for the rest of the day.

          "So guys how are you doing?" Brad asked and Chester jumped at the sudden noise. Mike turned to Brad and gave him a smile.

         

          "We're doing fine Brad. We did just see each other yesterday," he said and Brad nodded.

          "I know. But it's a conversation starter at least. What about you Chaz?" Brad asked. Dave watched as Chester glanced up and nodded.

          "Fine."

          One word answers. Something was definitely up. Dave frowned slightly.

          "How does that cut feel? Are you going to be ok to sing tonight?"

          "Yea. It's fine," Chester said quickly. Dave nodded.

          "That's good. I can't believe you even did that. Did it hurt a lot?" Dave asked hoping to get Chester talking.

          "No. It wasn't bad actually. That's why I was talking with you. And saying that stuff in the c-car," Chester stuttered the last word and looked away. Dave could tell Brad was trying to figure out what was going on but they were both stumped. Chester was just off and Mike was oddly silent at times. Oh no.....Mike hadn't raped Chester again had he? Dave swallowed at the thought and glanced away. If Mike had....no...he'd be upset. He was always upset after he did something wrong. Had they gotten into a fight? No, they wouldn't be hanging together if they had. Mike would probably be in the room and Chester would've come down here. So what was the problem? It was a few hours before the show and Mike and Chester decided to leave. As soon as they were gone, Dave turned to Brad.

          "I'm totally stumped."

          "I am too."

          "What's going on?" Rob asked as he made their way over to them, "Is it about Chaz and Mike?"

          "Yea. They were acting weird today," Brad replied.

          "Yea they were," Joe agreed, "Chaz didn't even want to play videogames and he always wants to play."

          "Something's wrong. We have to figure it out," Dave said.

          "Here's what we do. We'll try to keep them in our sight as much as possible. Maybe we can like....have an audio recording on one of our phones in their room hooked into a charger so we can see if anything's going on. If not, we'll just keep our eyes open for interactions between them," Brad said. Dave nodded.
