Chapter 18
Like I said, it was not the end.
Before Joe could touch me, I felt his grip loosen freeing my hands in a quick moment. I opened my eyes immediately getting up to sit. Joe groaned, covering his nose with his hands. He sat with legs stretched out, resting his back on the bookshelf.
"Who the hell are you dude?" He yelled looking past me. Before I could figure out what was happening I got up from the floor and took steps backward to run but I halted when I saw Shayan.
"Did he do this to you?" He asked looking at the marks Joe's slaps had left in my face.
"Did he hit you?" He raised his voice. I nodded my head faintly as tears sprung into my eyes and the pain in my chest grew, rapidly spreading through my left arm.
My eyes flew open in realization. Joe was here. He was still here.
My only help was Shayan. As pathetic and cowardly I could get, I hid myself behind Shayan and tugged a small portion of his t-shirt in my hands. I wasn't crying or anything. I was just blank and the only thing I knew I had to do is run away but I didn't.
I was terrified. If there was anything I knew at this moment, it was that Joe was here and he will hit me. He will.. he will rape me.
"Sh-Shayan, h-help m-me," I stuttered breathlessly burying my face in his t shirt, gripping his t shirt as stiffly as possible.
When I looked, Joe was trying to stand up clutching the book-shelf, his nose was bleeding. He gave me an evil grin, as he wiped the blood off his face with the back of his hand.
"That girl!" Joe pointed his finger at me. "She is mine," He said taking two steps towards us. I hid myself as much as possible. This was the first time I was thankful of my petite figure.
"Shayan," I whispered in a hush, tears not stopping. I was sure of my nails digging dip into his t shirt.
Before Joe came any closer, Shayan pressed his hand on his chest, stopping him.
"Dont." Shayan said, sternly.
Joe laughed mockingly, "Don't? Did you just say 'don't'? You sure think you're a hero. But dude, she is a bit-"
Shayan cut him off by pushing him on the bookshelves.
"Don't you, Don't you dare speak anything like that about her!" He spit out in anger.
Joe stayed silent, but his face clearly screamed his rage. He wasn't going to let this slip. I knew Joe for years now. I knew what he was like. If anybody messed with him, they were calling for their death.
I didn't want to pull Shayan into this. I can't be a coward anymore. I have to save Shayan. If anything happens to him, I don't think I'll ever forgive myself.
"Sh-Shayan, I-I'll handle this," I stuttered freeing his t shirt from my hands. I stepped out, coming into Joe's view.
Joe laughed mockingly again, "Oh yeah? Handle this? Handle me?"
I knew why he laughed. This is the same thing I said when Seb came to rescue me.
"Joe! Let Shayan go. It's me who you want." I said, my hands balling into fists.
"Haaniyah are you crazy?" Shayan pulled me by my shoulder. He clearly couldn't believe I was ready to give into Joe.
"It's okay Shayan," I gently pushed his hand away. Shayan looked deep into my eyes. Like he was searching for some truth in my eyes.
He was trying to help me even though he had no idea who is Joe and what is happening.
Monster, I wish I could tell you how much I...
