Happy reading! P.S: I changed the book cover.

Chapter 45

A scene that I would have never imagined happening was right here, playing as reality. Who knew Farah had a weakness for tears?

Next to me lay a box of ice cream cups and two girls fast asleep after an hour of crying session. Victoria ranted about Joe non-stop and weirdly I thought I was going to be alone in trying to comfort her when Farah joined the conversation and after two minutes, they were hugging each other like they both lost their countries.

Farah immediately opened her Instagram to show a list of guys she knew that could keep Victoria happy.

I can admit some of them were hot. Sorry, Shayan.

It was around 3 am and I still couldn't sleep. I think by now I had a proper condition of Insomnia. My mind kept buzzing with thoughts.

I'll go back home, speak to my parents about joining college there although I wasn't sure if that was possible, and possibly take therapy.

Ryan's words still lingered, "I have watched you all this time Haaniyah. And I think that there's a lot of negative self-talk going on inside of you. Sheen told me the other day that you wore a short dress and that you wanted to be pretty and wanted to try to fit into what you thought society considered as pretty.

But Sheen loves you the way you are and even if he says that to you, you are not going to accept it. Because the only person who is struggling to love you is you."

Those words hit like an arrow.

Being bullied and being almost harassed in the library that day, everything was ingrained inside my head and was coming out in ways that I was not conscious of.

I dialed Shayan's number.

It started ringing and after the third ring, I cut the call. He must be asleep. I shouldn't keep burdening him with my thoughts.

I was about to put the phone on the table next to the bed when it rang. The screen read 'MONSTER'. I still didn't change the name.

I picked up. "Shayan I'm sorry go back to sleep-"

"I'm coming Haaniyah."

There was only the sound of Victoria snoring in the background, yet I could hear my heartbeat.

"What?" I whispered. Farah turned sides and her head bumped into Victoria's shoulder. They both groaned and turned their backs to each other.

"I'm coming to get you. I know something's up and you're not telling me."

"But it's late and Farah's going to be worried and-"

"Don't worry about that." He hung up.

Ten minutes later, he picked me up and I sat behind him on his bike. I rested my head on his back and we didn't speak the whole ride.

The cool air rustled my hair and my grip tightened around his waist. I didn't know where he was taking me, but I could go anywhere with him.

The bike stopped abruptly in front of the very familiar gate we both knew. He didn't wait to park the bike, instead switched it off, put the keys in his pocket, grabbed my hand, and kept walking.

The grass and the twigs made sounds as we stepped on them and it had started to drizzle. It was a cloudy night and we reached the bank of the same lake we visited together before, this time the light of the moon reflecting on the water was missing.
