A fifteen-year-old Godrick was riding his new motor bike through the woods. His uncle John had just gifted it to him as late birthday present and he wanted to try it out. The forest might not have been the best place to do that but at least here, he could go has fast as he wanted and no one would be able to stop him. Speeding through the trees along a dirt road he came up to a clearing. He was just breaking through the foliage when something unexpected happened. There was someone else in the clearing and he was standing with his back turned right in front of the speeding bike. Panicking Godrick turned the handle of his motor to the side with a violent twist and was send skidding across to the floor. He closed his eyes as his elbow impacted the floor before he let go of his bike and tumble to a stop.

Laying on the ground, the Gilbert boy blinked at the sky. So that happened. Good job Godrick, you had your bike for less than a day and you already recked it. Dad's going to be so mad. His head was pounding he and was trying to regain his bearings when a hand invaded his visions. Looking at the owner of the hand, he saw a man in his late twenties, early thirties standing over him with a concerned look on his face.

It was the man he almost ran over.

Shaking his head to get read of the fog clouding his mind, Godrick garbed the offered appendage and let himself get pulled to his feet. The man was stronger than he expected and he was send tumbling into a strong chest. Putting his hands against it to steady himself, a hand was placed on his waist to keep him upright as the man spoke.

"Are you ok?"

Eyes looked him up and down to see if anything was broken before landing on the younger's eyes as the teen answered.

"Yeah. Just a few scraps."

The two looked at each other's eyes for a few seconds, lost in each other's gaze before the older man stepped back, clearing his throat.

"You should really wear a helmet when you drive that thing."

Godrick ignored the feeling of disappointment he got when the hand left his skin. Looking back at his fallen bike the teen let out a sigh of relief that it didn't seem to have suffered any damage huffed a laugh.

"Yeah."

Looking back at the man the boy held out his hand.

"I'm Gilbert. I mean Godrick. Godrick Gilbert."

Well, that was embarrassing. He didn't know what came over him. He was not usually this awkward but he could have sworn he felt butterflies flutter in his stomach when the older man just smiled and shook his hand.

"I'm Zack Salvatore. It's nice to meet you Godrick."

A tear rolled down the seventeen-year old's face as he looked around the clearing. It's been more than a month since he buried Zack here and the previously empty space was now filled with blooming purple flowers. He had always used vervain as an excused to see Zack. And now he always will.

---------------------------------------------------------

Godrick had been out of town for the last week visiting his uncle and apparently, he had missed a lot of things. Bonnie had been possessed by her ancestor's spirit and found out the truth about vampires, Logan Fell came back as a vampire only to get killed by no one knows who, Jeremy was writing a paper on vampires for extra credit, there was a new history teacher and... did he forget anything?

Oh yeah! There were 27 vampires buried under the old Fell's church. Well, that wasn't really news to him but the fact that Damon had been trying to open the tomb they were trapped in was. And to put icing on the cake, Elena knew they were adopted and has been ignoring him for twelve straight hours now. That may not seem like a lot but for the twins it was like an eternity. I mean come on he left for a week and the world went to hell.
