Elena and Stefan had invaded Godrick's bedroom to do research on Emily's grimoire. Godrick had most of the family's journals and vampire related heirlooms on his shelf and so he was once again dragged into a situation he didn't want to get involved in. He didn't even know what they were looking for, then again he hadn't really been paying attention. He knew it had something to do with the tomb and, something the vampire had said about a grimoire, nothing that concerned him really.

It was funny really that he had know about the supernatural world for years without encountering any real trouble and his sister wasn't even two month in that she was in over her head. Elena was checking the book on the bottom level as she addressed Stefan.

"Do you think Damon really believes us? That we're both trying to help him?"

Stefan was looking through one of the boxes Godrick had gotten out of his closet as he answered.

"I don't think Damon knows what to believe. Trust isn't something that comes naturally to him."

That was an understatement. Still Elena paused in her reading and looked at her boyfriend thoughtfully.

" You know...I really think that Damon believes that everything he's done, every move that he's made, he's done for love. It's twisted, but kind of sad."

Godrick didn't really have much room to judge on that front. Everything he did, he did it because he loved his sister, he didn't care if the world burned around him as long as his family was safe. Stefan didn't seem to see things that way though.

"There are other ways to get what you want. You don't have to kill people. Damon has no regard for human life. He enjoys inflicting pain on others. For 145 years, every single time that I have let my guard down and let Damon back into my life, he's done something to make me regret that. I'm not going to make that mistake again."

Sensing his souring mood Elena tried to change the subject a little.

"So what do you think will happen if the tomb gets opened and Damon gets Katherine back?"

The Salvatore grimaced at the prospect.

"I think that no matter what Damon promises, a lot of people will die."

Elena huffed as she opened a box from the shelf a picture resting on top of it. Standing up Stefan observed the picture from over the girl's shoulder.

"That's Johnathan Gilbert."

Godrick, who was doing his homework at his desk, raised his head and looked at the two sitting on the floor.

"Wait, you're looking for Johnathan Gilbert's journal?"

Elena looked at her brother before rolling her eyes at herself. Of course her twin would know where it is, he was almost religious when it came to their family's heritage. Why didn't she think of asking him sooner? He was literally seating right in front of her. Well, no time like the present.

"Yeah, do you know where it is?"

Her twin gave her a deadpan look as if to say it was a dumb question and it was but that wasn't the point.

"I leant it to Jeremy for his history paper."

At his sister's hopeful expression, he quickly spoke up again.

"And Jeremy leant it to Mr. Saltzman."

Well that complicated things a little but nothing good ever came easy.

Godrick was walking through the woods as night set in. He was running low on magic and he needed to remedy that as soon as possible. Things were speeding up in his little town and Elena was getting more and more involved by the day. Things were escalating quickly, and he knew that Anna, his baby brother's stalker, would be making her move any day now so he had to be ready.
