"Linh?"

One of the figures flinched ever so slightly.

But why would Linh do all this?

"How do you know my sister's name?" asked one of the figures, and dropped their hood.

"Tam? You too?"

"How do you know my name?" He hissed.

"But Tam- you and Linh- we were friends- you helped me- we met in Exilium-"

Tam cut her off. "We never went to Exilium."

"You... what? I thought..." She trailed off.

If they never went to Exilium, that meant she didn't have a chance to meet them. Which meant...

"D- did they kill Silveny?"

"Who's Silveny? And what do you mean by 'they'? What's been going on?"

Sophie sighed. She had some explaining to do.

Tam's POV

He stared at Sophie as she told him everything with what he thought was a neutral face. But it was hard to tell, considering how there weren't any mirrors anywhere.

He already knew everything that she was telling him. In fact, he was in on it. But only for Linh.

The memory replayed in his head, fresh as ever.

"Tam, look at me." Linh took his face in her hands, lifting his bangs and forced him to look her in the eye.

"Please. For us. For me. They'll provide us with everything we need. Food, Water, Shelter..."

"But it's too dangerous! Linh, they could kill us if they found out what we're doing!"

"So I won't let them find out. We won't let them find out. And kill us or not, we'll be in it together. Like we always have. Please, Tam. Deal?"

He sighed and took her hand. "Deal."

She smiled and small specs of light glimmered around her.

"Thank you," she whispered, pulling him in for a hug. "You're the best family I ever had."

"Tam? Tam! Snap out of it!"

He looked back at Sophie.

"Y-yeah, sorry. I was just thinking."

"Tam, are you okay?" she asked, reaching for his hand, but he pulled away.

"I'm fine."

He sighed and raised his hood once more, smiling as the shadows settled around him.

Time to turn her in.
