As night neared, the roads became more quiet and darker. Lights were going out one by one and the lanterns that hung by the streetside were the only things brightly burning but it wasn't enough. Stray cats and dogs huddled in dark corners while the homeless slept in alleyways. Crickets chirped and bees buzzed under the twinkling glare of the moon and neighboring stars. Jungkook pressed his cheek against the cold red brick of a nearby building, trying to catch his breath. He had been running since he left the house with the energy he didn't know he had. In fact, he wasn't supposed to be having this much strength. For an 18-year old boy who stood at 5'10 with nothing but bones in his body, he shouldn't be able to run for 5 hours straight, let alone move in general. But, if memory had served him right, he'd always been a weird child from the way he looked to what he could do to the way he healed. The bruises that those men used to inflict on him should've rendered him dead or at least permanently damaged. Yoongi had once, out of anger, pushed him off the balcony and Jungkook landed on the ground almost 18ft lower than where he used be. At least 15 of his bones were broken and his skull fractured, but after laying on the ground motionless for nearly a day, he walked good as new except for some nasty scars. Yoongi had looked at him with disbelief on his face before Namjoon had thrown Jungkook down in the basement.
Jungkook slid his back down the faded outer-walls before landing on the ground with a thud. He was nearing the borders of the village and all that laid ahead of him were mountains and wilderness. He didn't want to go there but neither could he stay at the village where his former house mates resided in- he would be easily caught and sent back. Jungkook didn't know where to go but follow his non-existent intuition. For a second, Yugyeom and his dad appeared in his mind, his heart wanting nothing but the warmth of their house and companionship. But he couldn't- he couldn't even say good-bye. Guilt-ridden and tired, he got up from the ground just to be immediately pushed back down again.
Fear took over him as he saw grimy nails dig into his shoulders and stringy hair brush his face. He scrunched his nose in disgust as a horrible stench wafted towards. It was an old man with big brown eyes. His face was wrinkled as a raisin, fingers as lithe as a mythical elf, smelt as horrible as an ogre. The man himself was sticks and bones with a dark grey cloak sweeping the ground and covering his footprints left by the dirt of his clothed slippers.
"I'm gonna kill you," the man screamed as his hands moved from Jungkook's shoulders to his neck. Angry red marks were left in the wake of his touch with murderous intent. Jungkook choked, unable to push him away as his energy was spent on the prior exercise he had and healing from past wounds.
"Your kind has killed too many people, killed my entire family and for that I swear you shall burn." Jungkook looked at him in confusion. Omegas have never harmed anyone; the old man must have gone absolutely mental. With whatever he had left in him, Jungkook kicked the old man away from him and got up in a haste so he wouldn't have a disadvantage when he is attacked again.
"I'm sorry, sir, but you have the wrong person. I'm a beta and I haven't killed anyone- let alone laid a hand on someone." It was the beginning of a new life for Jungkook so it is only proper of him to take up a new identity. Maybe some a beta named Nam Ul-Sung or Usung for short.
"I smell it on you, boy. History is going to repeat, innocent blood will be spilled and the empire will be divided. You who was not supposed to be born shall lead and burn everything to dust and ashes. Dust and ashes. Dust and ashes," the old man mumbled the same sentence over and over again, his brown contacts disappearing into the milky white of his eyes with his head tilted to the sky. His frail hands were out and, in a position, as if he was asking for forgiveness from the heavens above. Jungkook took this as a momentary distraction and slipped into the darkness of the night, making his way to the imposing mountains that held the most dangerous weather for him as a present.
