Chapter 7

"William? Are you alive?" Magnus questioned. I nodded in response.

"Did you listened to what Magnus said?" Asked Cecily.

"Something about how cute a blob fish is." I said.

Everyone stared at me. Bane's Boutique is filled with all my friends. It's the day for the Masquerade Ball and Magnus is at last giving us our costumes.

Cecily shook her head, "He talks nonsense when he's troubled."

"You know me too well." I flashed her a smile.

Magnus sighed. "Come on. Your costumes are inside." 

Everyone except me followed. "You coming." Alec asked.

"No."

"I'll get it." Cecily said and left. 

I sat on the chair near the counter. This week has been messed up.

The worst thing was that I was drunk and did things I didn't expect to do. I somehow went to Branwell's books and yelled at Tessa. She will hate me now. I thought of going to her house to apologize. But the truth is that I'm scared.

 I can't believe I admitted that. 

Soon, everyone came out and Jem dumped my suit in my lap. "Come on." 

I took it and walked towards my car. 

"You feel bad about what you said to Tessa?" Jace asked.

I didn't even want to talk. I just nodded.

"No offence, but you are kind of rude to everyone." He said. "And you never feel bad."

"I don't wanna talk about it." I replied. 

"You love Tessa." Jace dropped the bomb out of nowhere.

"What. No." I replied.

He shrugged. "Suit yourself, man." He patted on my back.

I cannot be in love with her. I have just known her for a few days. But she had that effect on me. Her brilliant eyes and pale comes into my mind and her love for books had me confused. She would think of them as precious as diamonds. Which seemed absurd. But it was books that helped me escape from my reality. I guess it must be the same for her.

Another car came into the parking lot. Miranda and Jessie came out.

"Hey Will." Miranda said in a flirty voice.

 I resisted my urge to gag. And as usual, Jessie glared. Let's just say that we don't get along.

I looked back at the car to see if Tessa is here. No one else came out.

"Is Tessa here?" I asked. Jace snorted. I kicked him in his shin, not too soft.

Jessamine looked at the car and then at Miranda.

"No." Miranda replied shortly. "Why do you want to see her?" 

"Probably to swoon over her." Jace mumbled so only I could hear.

"Jace." I said, trying to not show my anger and patted on his back. "My dear, sweet cousin. Aren't you late to meet Clary and make out with her."

"Your right. I need to call her." He said shamelessly. He walked away fiddling with his phone. Wow.

Thankfully, Jem came for the rescue. "Let's go."

"Gladly." I said and opened my door.

"Don't forget to save a dance for me Will?" Miranda said.
