When Newt had retreated to the small room he'd woken up in, he looked around, examining all the details of the small room. Something he didn't pay attention to when he first had woken up.

The walls were a creamy white with the paint peeling off them, and the floor boards were a deep faded brown. The room itself was fading, the windows had chipped frames and the windows were foggy. Even with the poor interior of the room, it was still livable.

The nicely made cot Newt would be sleeping in (courtesy of Elaine herself) was placed across from the door with a worn down chest at the foot of the cot.

From what Newt could see from the door, across from the room he would be staying in for a short while, was Elaine's small room. The door was slightly shut, leaving only a slight crack between the door and its frame. He could see her shadow moving about the room, and he could hear the quiet shuffle of stuff moving.

Newt hadn't actually noticed Elaines facial appearance, or really much about her.

But he sat on the cot and remembered the details he saw as they talked downstairs about they're upcoming journey.

He noticed she was at least 3 inches shorter then him. And her hair was a chestnut brown , and whenever she stood in the sun or it peered through the windows, her hair had an ombré of gold highlights, and her eyes were an intense bright blue, like the sky.

Even though Elaine had a sweet, and kind personality, Newt could tell it's better to stay on her good side rather then her bad side, which seemed to hide pretty well.

As Elaine rummaged through her drawers and chest for the silver pendant necklace that her Aunt had given her the day before she passed, her mind wondered to Newt. She remembered his light dirty blonde hair, and captivating green eyes. And more so his toned chest, which seemed to pop into her mind more then she anticipated it to.

She blushed at the sudden image of Newt shirtless, and quickly shook her head hoping to rid of the sensual thought.

She was so focused on finding her pendant that she didn't even notice the dirty blonde boy standing in the doorway.

"What are you looking for?" Newt asked causing Elaine to jump.
"Sorry I didn't mean to frighten you" Newt quickly apologized, as Elaine looked right up at him from her crouched position on the floor next to the chest.

"No, your fine. Um, I'm just looking for a pendant my Aunt had given me" Elaine had said standing up with a timid smile.

"Do you need help finding it?" Newt offered.
"That would be great, thank you" Elaine said gratefully. You could tell she was starting to lose hope and was worried that she had lost the silver pendant for good.

"What exactly does it look like?" Newt asked while looking through the small book shelf.
"Uh, it's a small circular silver pendant with old American cravings on it" Elaine explained hastily looking under her cot and pack of clothes.

"Is this it?" Newt asked holding up the exact silver pendant.

"Oh yes!" Elaine immediately got up from her knees and rushed over to Newt, carefully taking the pendant out of his hand.
"Thank you" Elaine said warmly, holding the pendant like she depended on it, and in a way she did.

Later that night, Newt and Elaine sat on the roof of the house eating a few grapes Elaine had found the other day.

"I've always liked the stars" Elaine admitted coolly.
"Do they mean anything to you?" Newt asked curiously.
"I guess, I mean...I've always had a thing for stars, I just can't remember why" Elaine stated finishing off the last grape.
"I'm sure you'll remember soon" Newt said with a smile, which Elaine returned.

After talking for a few more minutes the two retired to their proper rooms, and bid there goodnights, then fell asleep. Starting tomorrow they'd leave. Unaware of what the future had in store for them.
