Newts hand caught Elaine's just in time as the log plunge to the ground, shattering in bits and pieces.

He pulled her up, and she crashed into him, not letting go.

She was shaking and gripping tight onto Newts arms as he hugged her to his chest.

It only took a few more minutes for the two of them to realized there current position and they slowly and awkwardly moved apart.

"Thanks" Elaine muttered as she moved to sit beside him.
"No problem" Newt replied

They sat there regaining there breaths before moving on, and eventually coming to the slopping part of the canyon where it ended.

They slid down the smooth limestone, and continued to walk in the desert until nightfall.

"You ok?" Newt asked Elaine as they sat around the fire.
"A little shaken up about earlier, but yeah I'm ok" Elaine said shooting closer to the fire for warmth.

After a couple hours Elaine had fallen asleep, and again Newt sat there wondering, thinking, pondering, looking up at the stars. He laid down with his blanket on top of him, and his hands under his head looking up at the stars and a soon enough he'd fallen asleep.

Newt and Elaine were sweating from the heat. They stripped of there long sleeve shirts, and jackets, and were left in there jeans and tank tops.

"I never knew it could get so hot here" Elaine admitted panting.
"I know, we need to find somewhere to stay, or the sun will give us a heat stroke" Newt contemplated looking at the sun with his hand hovering over his eyes.

As they kept walking they came across an abandoned town, most of it covered in sand.

Elaine had found a torn down box building, with two of its walls, and half the ceiling missing.

"Here" Elaine said slumping down against the wall in the shade with her bag beside her.

Newt sat down next to her, and took a plastic water bottle out of his pack and began to drink the water.

"The suns unbearable during the day, so we'll have to travel at night" Newt setting the water bottle back into his pack.

"That's a good idea, we even have flashlights too" Elaine said pulling out a heavy duty box flashlight.
"You really did come prepared didn't you?" Newt said with a smile.
"I always do...well sometimes" Elaine said with a laugh at the end.

Elaine had fallen asleep about an hour after she sat down against the wall, as she went deeper into sleep her head fell onto Newts lap. He honestly didn't mind, he was too tired to mind.

He absentmindedly played with her hair as his eyes closed. And soon he too had fallen asleep.
