The next morning when Newt woke up he could see that Anna was already up packing up some of the stuff.
He looked over to see his hand still holding Elaines. He smiled and slowly let go of her hand.
"Good morning," Newt said to Anna.
"Good morning," Anna said while moving some stuff around.
As Newt went to walk away Anna called for him. "Yes," Newt responded walking back over to her. "I know you like Elaine and all and I don't think you would ever do anything to hurt her, but I just wanted to let you know that I think she really loves you and she's never loved or even liked someone before... just... just treat her right," Anna said with a calm and concerned voice "or you won't live to see tomorrow" Anna warned looking straight into Newts eyes like a predator and its prey. "I-I will, I promise, Elaine s-she makes me feel something that I've never felt before..." Newt trailed on stuttering at Anna's warning "I think...I think I may actually love her," Newt said lovingly looking over at Elaine's sleeping self. "Well good then," Anna said awkwardly walking over to the fire.
Newt then went over to Elaine and brushed her hair out of her face. "Elaine...Elaine...", Newt said sweetly while stroking her cheek.
Elaine groaned as she stretched out her arms and legs and slowly opened her eyes.
"You know you've got to be the prettiest bed head I have ever seen", Newt said while smiling and playing with Elaine's hair.
Elaine got a dorky grin on her face and slightly chuckled.
After a few minutes of packing everything up the three set off.
Newt starting walking a little ahead of the girls. "Sooo yesterday huh." Anna said with an awkward tone. "Yea", Elaine said in an awkward tone as well.
"He's a really lucky guy", Anna said sweetly. "Aww thank you but I'm the lucky one", Elaine said smiling and looking up at the handsome boy walking up a head.
"I don't think I've ever seen you so happy", Anna said looking at Elaine's smile.
"To be honest", Elaine said looking over at Anna. "I don't think I've ever been this happy". Anna was very surprised by Elaine's response.
"Anna, Elaine come look at this", Newt saids interrupting them staring at the rapid flowing river up a head.
"Is there any way around it?" Elaine asked a little concerned. "Nope, hope you girls aren't afraid to get wet," Newt said playfully while taking his back pack off and putting his coat in it. "Oh don't worry about us ," Anna said. Anna wasn't afraid of water but what neither of them knew was that Elaine was terrified of water.
The girls took off their long sleeve shirts and stuffed them in their bags. Right as they looked up Newt was taking off his shirt and putting it in his bag. Newt could feel their eyes staring at him.
Newt looked over at Elaine and said playfully, "I'll ask you this one more time, do you like what you see?" Anna was confused but let Newt have his fun with Elaine.
Newt was very surprised when Elaine suddenly answered and said, "I'll give you the same answer I gave you last time, yes."
Newt looked rather confused and said, " wait that's not what you said last time?"
"Oh it's not? I must have just said it in my head," Elaine said with a mischievous look.
Newt looked at her a little shocked then just chuckled.
"Umm hey Anna can I talk to you for a minute?" Elaine asked looking frightened staring at the river.
"Yea what's up," Anna responded as she walked over to Elaine.
"So...um I've never told anyone this before but it's kind of important now...um...I'm afraid of water," Elaine said looking over at Newt to make sure he couldn't hear them.
"Well there's a problem", Anna said looking over at the river. "What do you want me to do", Anna asked hoping she could help Elaine in any way possible.
"I guess there's really nothing you can do, I'll just have to push pass my fear and deal with it"
"Alright but if you can think of anything just let me know"
"I will", Elaine said as she was taking off her shoes and socks
A few minutes later when everyone was ready they walked up to the edge of the river.
Newt noticed that Elaine looked frightened but knowing the type of girl she is he knew that she wouldn't tell him she was afraid of the river, so he simply grabbed her hand and held it as he smiled at her.
Elaine smiled back at Newt and felt a little better until he let go and started walking into the river.
The girls followed him and soon they were all lined up.
"Wait before we go in", Newt said looking at the girls, "I have to do one thing". He then looked over to Elaine and kissed her on the cheek. "Ok we're good", Newt said with a slight smirk on his face.
Elaine looked at the ground and smiled.
"All right you two lovebirds let's get this over with", Anna said playfully.
"Ladies first", Newt said with a slight chuckle.
"Yea right", both the girls said simultaneously and laughed at the fact that they said it at the same time.
Elaine took a deep breath in and began into walk into the water.
Everything was going smoothly and Elaine felt more comfortable then she thought she would, but that comfort didn't last for long.
When they were just about in the deepest part of the water a big wave came through carrying a huge log and it was headed straight for Elaine.
Newt and Anna were both a little a head of Elaine so they were safe from the log.
"Elaine!!!" Anna screamed boisterously.
Elaine looked over to see what was headed straight toward her.
Newt looked over and saw what was happening and tried to get over to her in time but it was to late.
The log hit Elaine and took her under the water.
Elaine struggled to get above the water once she did another wave pumbled her.
Anna swam and got out of the water and ran along side the river downstream yelling for Elaine, while Newt swam downstream close behind Elaine.
After a few minutes of yelling for help Elaine swallowed so much water and could barely breath.
She got above the water thinking she had finally made it, but she was sorely mistaken. She looked behind her only to see the log coming straight for her head.
The log knocked her unconscious, and she went under.
Right as Elaine went unconscious she saw a figure swimming to her and grab her waist but she became unconscious before she saw who it was.
Anna rushes over to where Newt had pulled Elaine out of the water and dragged her up onto dry land.
"Elaine, Elaine", he said almost in tears while shaking her.
He then bent over to hear her heart. And realized she wasn't breathing, he bent over and gave her mouth to mouth and chest compressions for about two minutes until she coughed up water and woke up.

After she woke up and realized what was going on she sat up and threw herself to Newt.
He gladly put his arms around her and sat there with her while she clung to him in tears.
After a few minutes Newt looked over to Anna and asked her to start a fire.
She nodded her head and went to find some firewood.
Once Anna had the fire started Newt picked up Elaine and carried her bridal style while she clung to him for dear life over to the fire.
Anna pulled a blanket out of her pack and tossed it to Newt.
He put it over Elaine as she moved closer to him and put her arms around him.
She didn't want to move and Newt wasn't going to make her.
So there they laid there all night by the fire keeping each other warm.
Right before Anna went to sleep she looked over at Elaine and noticed that she looked almost like she was smiling.
Anna knew that once again, Elaine felt safe.
Although he pretended to be, Newt wasn't asleep he was to anxious and excited for what tomorrow would bring.
