It wasn't right.

Once dad dropped us at the front of the gate, Leo was, as usual, the first person to leave without a saying anything like he always does.

"Reo." Dad said. "Be careful of whatever you're doing, your brother has a scholarship exam starting soon."

I didn't know why he told me in the first place. "Okay."

"So that means none of this standing up for each other when we give him something of his own. If you want something, you ask, or better still work and get your own money for it."

"Okay." I just wanted to leave.

"Imagine when he gets the scholarship, the look on your uncle's face, the smartest kid in the Academy. Maybe I should have signed him for little league competitions, he could have easily won them all." He wasn't even talking to me anymore.

"Okay."

"You're still here? Leave, get to school. And make sure you work on your physics grade, I don't know what's so hard in physics that you got a thirty-two." I didn't even want to Physics class, I preferred my Social studies, Art class, Home-econ but I couldn't choose what I wanted, once Leo was deemed smart, I just had to follow his path.

Why wouldn't I? They imagined having both their kids so smart they'll be nicknamed the prodigy family, that's if they even know the right way of using the word: prodigy.

"Hey, Reo?" How I stood still and didn't run at the voice of someone talking to me might be because it's my brother.

"Leo? What do you want?"

"I'm going somewhere after school, might be late or not I'm not sure but will you cover for me?" I blinked.

"What?"

"Are you deaf or something? Will you cover for me? I'm going somewhere." If not that he spoke today, I would have never believed Leo said a full sentence to me, directed to me. Wow.

"Where are you going?"

"Somewhere. Besides, that's by the point, the point is will you cover for me?" Leo asks again, his brown curls falling over his eyes.

His voice was too light, relaxing to the feminine side, almost like mine. "I guess I can, but where are you going? Is it with the skinny kid?"

"Tommy is none of your business." Leo responded. "Just cover for me, if I don't come home tonight tell them I'm studying or something."

It was after he left that I knew something wasn't right. He didn't need to tell me to cover for him, one word to our parents and they would even give him a thousand dollars if he wanted, but telling me was pointless.

We both knew our parents don't listen to me, or did he just want to talk to someone? Was it a code for something?
