I was laughing and talking to my grandmother. She actually mostly stayed in Kolkata. Since it was her granddaughter's engagement party, she had come. We all loved her. Whenever she would come she would make us delicacies which were our favourite. "Hi dida. How are you?" Sam said coming up from behind her. She turned and gave Sam a bear hug.
"How is my baby girl? Oh, I'm so happy for you. You look amazing." She said smiling. She too was an immortal and she actually didn't look like a grandmother. She stopped aging when she was thirty so yeah a very young grandma. She too had dark hair with a strip of blonde hair like Sam but her eyes were brown like mom. She was wearing a a black saree with light gold embroidery on the borders with an off shoulder blouse. Sam too was wearing a saree but it was rich violet with silver patterns on it and she wore a silver halter neck blouse with her hair loose over her shoulders.
"So where is your fiancee?" I asked. She blushed slightly and looked around. She spotted him speaking with dad.
"There he is. Ash over here." She said waving her hand at him. He smiled and came towards us.
"Well he is Ash, my fiancee. Ash this is my grandmother." She introduced. Dida looked like she was about to faint with happiness. Even at a young age she acted like a typical grandmother.
"Wow. A very young grandma." He said and shook hands with her.
She fanned herself and turned to Sam. "I like him. Good choice."
"Dida." Sam said, turning a brilliant shade of purple, much like her saree.
Ash laughed looking at her and kissed her cheek. "Don't worry. She will not get rid of me for a long time." He said to dida putting his hand around Sam's shoulder and she laughed, giving him her one of her famous bear hugs.
"Well where are your parents? I would love to meet them." She said excitedly. Sam and I looked at him knowingly.
Sam started to say something but Ash cut her off. "My mother died when I was away for work and my dad left us when we were young. Until five years ago I didn't even know who my dad was. I found out it was Hamla whom Sam killed five years ago." She looked at him for a moment. Then she hugged him again and pulled away, wiping her tears.
"Well you don't have to worry about that. You have us. Call me dida." She said and we all smiled. Dad clinked his glass on the stage and we all looked at him.
"Can I have everyone's attention please? I would like to propose a toast for the couple. I'm very proud and happy that my daughter has found her life partner. Also I'm very happy for the young man too. He too is like a son to me and has always been there. Thank you." He raised his glass and we all raised our glasses along with him. We all drank to the new couple.
I went onto the stage. "I would like to propose a toast too. It feels like yesterday that my sister was born. She has grown up so much and I'm very happy for them. She has found the perfect man Ash to spend her life with. They both are are just perfect for each other." I raised my glass and we all drank to them.
The band was playing a very popular party song and everyone were dancing on the dance floor. I was standing away from the dance floor, drinking as I watched dida mingle with people. Dadu had died when mom was young so she was a single mother. She was a retired spy. In the power division, you couldn't work for more than a hundred years. Dad's time was near too. He had to choose a successor for his position. Dad still hadn't made up his mind. I was shaken from my thoughts when I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around to see Ashley standing there, looking breathtakingly and almost painfully beautiful in her black one-shoulder dress. Her dark hair was tied in a knot in the back of her head and her golden eyes gleamed. "Hey. Why aren't you dancing?"
"Well me and dancing just don't go together."
She laughed and tugged at my hand. "Come on. You don't think too much. You just have to let the music flow through you and just move to the rhythm." She said. I sighed and obliged. She practically dragged me to the dance floor. She started moving her and swayed her hips to the music. I tried to do that too but failed miserably. She laughed.
She grabbed my hips and swayed my hips while swaying hers too. "Here. This should help." Well it did help for me to fall a little more for her. I tried coordinating with her and it worked.
Then the band started playing a romantic song. We all urged Sam and Ash to dance to it on the dance floor while everybody else watched them dancing. We had fun at their party, dancing and drinking.
