The next few days went by in a blur and it was THE day of marraige. The Indian one. I sat in front of the mirror as my dida clasped the last big, fancy necklace around my neck. I was wearing a red Banarasi saree with gold embroidery. I wore two necklace. One was a good choker and the other one was the big, fancy one which my grandma had worn on her wedding and then my mother.
Dida put her hands on my shoulders. "Oh honey. You look so good. Just like your mother." She said, her voice choking slightly with tears.
I smiled. "Thank you." I slipped my gold bangles around my wrists and my grandma draped the red veil on the sides of my head. I looked just like mother on her wedding day.
"Oh honey. Absolutely gorgeous." I smiled and nodded, my throat constricted. I never got emotional but there I was.
"Hey. Whenever you're ready." Ashley said, coming inside the room. She was clad in a midnight blue sari with little silver stones on it. She wore a sleeveless blouse which exposed her tattoo. Her hair was tied in a French knot.
I stood up with a determined look on my face. "I'm ready."
It was a long process but I felt like it was over too fast. After taking seven rounds around the sacred fire and the exchange of garlands, everyone was in the party mood and also time for Sangeet.
I went upstairs and changed into a green lehenga with golden embroidery which exposed my midriff. I just wore jhumkas and left my hair open. I went downstairs to see that everyone was dancing. I smiled and joined in. Ash danced his way towards me and grabbed my bare waist. He pulled me close and kissed me. "You look amazing." He whispered, not letting go of my waist.
"Thanks. You don't look bad either." Actually he looked very handsome in a light blue kurta and pajama with a black Jahar coat. He chuckled and tucked a stray strand of my hair behind my hair.
But he suddenly turned serious. "What's the matter?"
"Well...I keep thinking that someone will suddenly come out and attack. I'm sorry I know I shouldn't think like this, but it's normal. I mean too normal. You know what I mean?" I understood. Well even I had my suspicions. Marraige event with no attacks was too good to be true.
"I know. Even i feel the same way but let's not think about that right now. We have defended our country for so long, I'm pretty they can manage a few days without us." He chuckled and nodded. I spotted Ashley and Sid dancing with each other. They seemed to be laughing at some joke. Sid looked good in a black Kurt's and pajama with a golden coloured Jahar coat. Ashley hadnt changed her outfit. I smiled. Well they were perfect for each other but that Sid was too afraid to confess his feelings.
"Hey who do you like more? Me or them?" Ash asked. He must've seen me look at them. I made a show of thinking.
"Well them."
"So get married to them."
"I'm sorry, I don't like a threesome." We both laughed.
"But seriously, what do you think about the idea of Sid and Ashley being together?" I asked.
"Well I think it's great. They are perfect for each other. But not as much as us." He replied and kissed me. That kiss made me the happiest woman on earth. Like that we both chatted and danced the night away.
But we weren't getting married in Goa. We were getting married near my house, in the clearing. It would be more perfect than a beach wedding. There were complications so we had to reschedule. It was already decorated and the minister was already hired. He was an old friend if my dad and happily obliged.
"Wake up!" Someone screamed and I quickly sat up, every bone in my body alert. I looked around and then my eyes landed on Ashley and dida. They looked like they were barely holding in their laughter.
I groaned. "Guys come on. Seriously?" I stretched my arms and yawned. I looked at them to see they had grown serious.
"Honey we need to get you ready. Now move, move, move." Dida commanded, putting her hands on her hips.
Hey guys. Sorry for the short chapter. I didn't put any pictures of the clothes because I wanted you guys to imagine it. If you can't then let me know and I'll publish the photos asap. Please don't forget to share, vote and comment. Until next time.
